Do you have to have previous metal shaping knowledge/experience to attend? I have none but would love to learn. Even if I don't touch a tool it would be great to just watch and learn. Let me know. Thanks.
How the heck did I miss this thread for so long?!?! Markham and finch is pretty close to me. I would love to learn some metal shaping you can count me in.
i have none of theses tools to bring nor any major knowledge but god damn i want to learn it so bad i can taste it, any issues with me just coming to watch?
I'd be in the same boat as 89lxstanger.... no tools or knowledge, but I'd be interested in just watching! Would be cool to see first hand how it's done!
Alright pugsy you had me at "learning how to TIG weld" That's something I've always wanted to try but never have... I'm going to try my best to make it down.... Seems a bunch of others from the forum are attending as well, so it would be a good place to meet some fellow "Ontario Rodders"
When do you need to know for sure? I would love to come. Problem is I can only say I'm 90% coming as of now because it is a little far down the road. I'll see what I can do. Hopefully my car will be on the road by that time as well.

I'll need everyone to confirm about a week beforehand so I know how many to expect.

Hey Pugsy does this mean you are buying the beer for the bench racers, no worries I am kidding. No time for booze and learning just the learning part. So how are you going to do a final reminder and head count? Probably be a few from our club that will want to attend.

No worries.
I will PM everyone who replied to this thread a coupla weeks before the meet.
Stump is a piece of tree trunk about 2' long. A concave cutout is made in the end and you now have an excellent tool for metal shaping. The price is always right as you can get them for nothing.
Of coarse if a taller piece is available, it would put it a nice height for pounding on.
Beater bags will be useful at the meet too. You can make one from an old purse. When I first started my total investment for a stump, beater bag and a few mallets was 7 bucks. 2 bucks for the purse and 5 bucks for the baseball bat I made a hammer from. I didn't include the hammer handle as I had that in stock already.
Hmmm never really thought of using a trunk. I always ended up using whatever I had close by to make my shapes. I have some people who want me to start making my metal art again and some new tool ideas would be handy.
As others have mentioned, I too would love to be able to just drop in and spectate if that is an option. Markham/Finch is not far for me. I'd be more than happy just listening and watching.
More importantly though, will there be valet parking for the rods? :)

Sure you could drop by to see what's up.
It will be great to meet the members of the forum.
As for parking, its in an industrial complex and should be OK since its on the weekend.
