I took a vertical cd rack and pulled all the plastic velvety cd holder slots out and painted it dark inside. I printed Mels Drive-in from the movie, a 1950s car lot, gas station and billboard as well as American Graffiti for the center. I have diecasts of the '56 T-Bird (with the waitress figure), '32 Duece Coupe (with Milner), '55 Chevy (with Falfa), and as well, the Route 66 '62 Corvette (with Tod and Buz). The '58 Impala is an old AMT model kit.I have Terry the Toads Vespa too, it's just not painted yet. I had to buy the 1/64 scale '58, '32, and '55 to get the 1/25 scale figures of Terry the Toad, Debbie, and Wolfman Jack. I also put Jungle Jim (funny car driver) and Jungle Pam from the funny car kit. I want to get some light rope to brighten it up, and plexiglass to keep it dust free.

Cool stuff....I have 1/25 scale metal 32 and 55 models from the movie.....Came prepainted, but I added wiring and did more detail.....did this about 15 years ago.
A bunch of years ago (mid 90s) I got back into building models....I went like mad for a year or so and then lost the time again. I have about 50 unbuilt kits up in the attic.
Anyways, I mainly built replicas of cars that I had actually owned......heres a few, the real one and the model...These were all built from plastic kits, some parts had to be mixed and matched to get what I wanted...I also have some die cast of some of them, if I could find one close enough
The Beaumont, I made from a Chevelle....The 62 Pontiac, mine being a Canadian car, which had the Impala frame and drivetrain....I did the same with the model
That's an awesome collection of kits!! brought back memories for me, I built lots of those when I was a kid... the older ones that were a little before my time are sweet!!
thanks for posting this... my wife thinks I'm a little crazy collecting hot wheels for my display in the den, I mean garage. nice stuff any RC in the bunch. I also have a RC monster truck i like to bash around, but I would love to get a RC nitro funny car.
I have a large collection of models and die cast 1/25 scale cars and trucks. I sold or gave away most everything but kept a few race car kits. Here are two I kept which I have never seen at any toy shows or on any websites. The Petty car is still in the celophane and the Waltrip car has been opened but the parts are still in their bags. They are 1978 Impalas that I have had since then.
Sorry, had a large collection of models. My wife wanted me to downsize so I started buying old Hotwheels and Matchbox cars. While I was looking for the models I found some other memories. Friends of mine and I had a racing board game and the cars sucked so we made or own. Here are some pictures of the modifieds I still have with a 5/16x1 bolt for size reference. We eventually made the track on a 4x8 sheet of plywood and used modified hotwheels cars. I will find those cars and post pictures later.

As for RC...this isn't a great pic, and obviously I have a bit of an alignment issue LOL but I built this RC Hotrod from scratch about 10 years ago....21cc Chainsaw engine, wood hand built/painted body, 1/2 x 1/2 square steel frame....gears and chain from a photocopier. Never finished it but I have driven it down my driveway and did burnouts against a wall LOL....way too much engine for it's size and weight.

i m wondering if the two impalas weren t suppose to be for market in France since the writings at the top of the box are wrote in french first something rarely seen on the packaging of anything else you buy
Flatduck The french labels are stuck on the box and are only on the top. I bought them around '79 or '80 when the bilingual labeling was just coming in. I found some more of the cars we modified years ago for our racing game. They are modified Hotwheels, Matchbox and Johnny Lightning cars, some finished some not. What do you think.
Here are some others I found. All the other models and die cast are packed away until I finish the basement and set up the display cabinets but a new shop comes first.
I have never seen them again. We used to go to toy shows around Southern Ontario collecting die cast and everyone I talked to had not seen anything like them either. Hopefully they are the Holy Grail of models and I have struck it rich. Not likely but it would be nice.

I'm not a big diecast collecter but i seem to get them for Birthdays and at Xmas, so checkout the pics of the various ponds and gardens in my backyard, this is how i display them, nothing really i would consider valuable diecast but koollll conversation pieces.......

i was looking at the pics of your model cars and i happen to notice a couple that caught my eye i was wondering if you might be interested in sell them. the ones in question are the 60 chev 4x4 and the gold 81 chevy stepside. as i am a big chey truck guy id like them to put in my collection. if your interested id be willing to trade for something i might have that is of intrest to you. i am into hotwheels aswell. hopefully we can swing a deal.
I was curious to know if anyone knew of any Hot Wheels dealers or Collectors in Ontario. I have a bunch of Hot wheels diecast cars (still in the packaging) and I am looking to sell them off.

I picked up this old Structo car hauler last week. I was told about a great "antique shop" in a sketchy part of Duluth..Wife says" there's a guy having a leak on the sidewalk,Well I guess we are in the right part of town"
Here are a few more I've been doing lately. The grey,
green,
and black
hot rods were built from parts box parts. I'm still looking for a few pieces, such as a grille for the green truck, and a pair of zoomies for the grey one (typically, I can only find one zoomie...). I made the flatbed out of balsa wood about 30 years ago. The '57 'Vette is a flip front MPC kit, the Goodwrench C5-R Corvette is a Revell prepainted kit (still have all the decals to apply), and the '57 300 C is an AMT prepainted kit.
