I have built a full tube chassis for this rough old 55 Chev, I will post pics as I make progress on it,  if anyone's interested. This car is a tough old bird but deserves to have a second life breathed back into her, Plans are for a smooth firewall all flat custom floors The frame is already built, I built it a few weeks ago but broke my camera. So i will take pics of the chassis when the body comes off it again.

The firewall will be removed and a new smooth one fabbed up.

Old tar paper floors and patched up junk

All gone now LOL

Keep in mind this car is very rough, it's had about about 4 floors put in it all done with everything form fiberglass to aluminum siding to tar paper. It needs the whole bottom 10'' all the way around. Its gonna be sweet though. Its really no better than a car from a feild, other than it has shiney paint and 10 gallons of fill in it. lol

LOL thats not the first time I heard that.

there were no inner rockers or floor braces or body mounts left in the car , it was all rotten. Hope to have the new inner rockers in and start fabbing up the body mounts this week

Tar paper and aluminum patched floor

All gone LOL

Just a peak of the rear clip before the body gets positioned on the chassis right

Flatduck...Chads a good guy to know...his work is awesome and very reasonable..he isn't out to try and get rich like a few other builders i know..the pride and knowing he has helped out a fellow rodder is half of fee i think. Met him on another site a few years ago and he offered to do a job for me about a 3rd of what another builder south of here wanted,,,and that included alot of the parts the other guy wanted me to supply...i'll travel the 5 hours to get something done by Chad without hesitation anytime,,,if you ever get to see my car you will understand why.

I'm new here so I just breezed through this thread for now, but I like this car! You're doing a great job!
I'm looking forward to following along as you make progress. Have you got a powertrain in mind yet?

life has been crazy and hectic, so not a lot of progress, just sheared up the new floor pans and firewall, I gotta trim and bead roll the floor pans yet. I got all the floor braces done and inner rockers , started mounting the mustang gas tank

great looking build Chad, that car sure was rotten. The paint on the dash and upper half indicates that this car was a nice looking machine at one time, how long was it sitting? Assuming it was parked in the grass...
is that 16ga HR you are using for the firewall and floors?

actually this car was still on the road as of last year..it was a tar and bondo buggy that looked good until we dug into it.  the owner payed way to much for it and was in it for too much , so it is what it is now... a complete rebuild..everything is just mocked up, its gonna be a drag car so no need for original floor pans and stuff, just make it all flat and smooth.
