So You Win the Lottery !

I did this over on HAMB a year or 2 ago and it was fun .

....So you wake up one morning , have a cuppa Joe , check the computer for lottery winners , and ....holy crap , I won !

......you drive down to the local Chinese Variety Store and One-Hung-Lo and his ugly-assed wife confirm that " Yu win Rottery "

........So you look after any obligations/relatives/deserving  others , tell your " supposed new friends " to piss off and now you might think about cars . Like a bucket list , yeah .

Oh , you won 10 MILLION !

Here's my list ...no particular order .

1.'53 Olds Fiesta Conv

2. '32 Ford 3-window ( all steel ) full fendered

3 '54 Buick Skylark hardtop

4  '34 Ford 3-window full fendered

5. '63 Galaxie lightweight 427 fastback ...probably none for sale but I would offer stupid money

6. ' 40 Ford Coupe

7. '57 Ford Fairlane  hardtop

8 . '56 Ford F100 pick me up

9. '51 Merc M1 pickup

10 2014 Ford F150 4x4 crew cab Lariat .

Me an the woman agree on if we win , take ten percent right offa the top . then split that equally between the ten nuclear families in our family . along with a short note , ie we came into some good fortune , do what you want , don't bother calling us when its gone . go live in California for a year and just do every thing .
buy a house in florida , near where Ding,s sister lives . Finish my gasser project and my 50 chebby truck .
I like movie cars , So I,d build a milners coupe clone but not a real clone , this would have a Donovan an a lenco
the willys from , hot rod ,
the vette from king of the mountain .
Then when that's done . I,d build a clone but not a real clone of my buddy Keifers car a 65 chevelle BB std trans car , black on black . dark tint , get it running sweet . then go right out in frt of the T . O . cop that accidentaly ran thru a red light , hit the chevelle right in the drivers door , killing him and doing some damage to his little brother in passenger seat , and do a block long burn out right across the frt of his house . Its been 22 yrs , and yea . I know where the m fer lives .
build another sportster , not an evo but with a 5 spd trans and a Bonneville .
and a trident , that sounds like this
youtu.be/JFpvXUmzAgY
and I always always wanted to build one of those manx T dune buggies , and I wanna build a mini , that can race in the pre 66 class.
and try to work on getting my r t ,s back on track or at least more consistent ..77.

You guys are good , REAL good , and a lot more fun than the Hambers who , if they even know where Canada is , get into big discussions about taxable winnings ...they can't just shut up and dream . They can't get it through their star-spangled brains that lotteries aren't taxable up here in the Great White North .

And, they would likely be so paranoid about some thief robbing them of their winnings, that they would spend it all on guns and ammo

What I would buy

Custom built house on a bit of acreage, large shop of course......a few cars for when I am there. This time of year, I would be heading south, sick of winter already.....and, I guess I would have to hire one of you guys to look after the forum....pays minimum wage....lol

I know a guy who was given millions for a car accident, shortly after won the lottery and then everytime he hit the casino would win minimum $10gs and up.
Advice he gave me....sit on it for a whole year....think about it. Year two...spend the intrest. Year 3 have fun.
While all that is fantastic advice....seeing as health isn't on my side.
first thing Id do is start a foundation, a few in fact.
One to help people with my nuerological disease
Second to help homeless.
third"Take it to the track" program, a program to encourage people by going to the drag strip friday nights for free.(helps prevent street racing)

Id take care of family like anyone should.
To be honest the car list...meh...if i saw something for sale and it WOW'ed me...Id buy it. But there is no list.
Fact. I would not own a concours car. I dont like trailers. Probably along the lines of a pro touring muscle car with new drivetrain and suspension. Modern, hassle free, less chance of break downs.
.
Id rather build an injected LS7 motor with tremec 6 sp,4:11s for my kids car.
Father son project. Not pay someone to do it. That is his dream. He is 15 yeah know.Kids gotta have dreams right.
.
Travel. I love travelling. Buy a Harley bagger, little trailer and go until we get there from BC to PEI to Florida to SoCal.
Then Europe, Asia and down under. While touring for the disease raising money.
Id like to be the only foundation in the world that gives over 95 cents of every dollar. or more.
.
I have had a pretty good life so far travelling, meeting people, been around some pretty high end cars.
Really the car thing is cool but Id rather spend my time giving back. But that is just me.

i would buy back the car/project that i had owned, dreamed of doing but never got around to it.

34 plymouth i bought as a shell when i was in my early 20's i never did anything with it. would go all black along the lines of the california kid car.

56 dodge suburban wagon that my grandfather gave to me when i was a teenager. it sat up at the cottage and returned to its natural state. i would go tubbed, hemi with a blower so over done that it surged at idle.

65 gmc panel 4x4 lifted on 44's with a big block. mine was a straight 6 and held together with rivets.

40 fargo 1/2 ton. my dads uncle gave it to me and i never had the chance to picked it. He passed away while i was over sea with the military. i was going to go with a pump house hemi and rat rod the thing.

I already have the rest.

I am satisfied with what material stuff and cars I already have or have had so I think first think for me would be to get enough balls to-gether to buy new knees and probably head south of the boarder to get it done so I would not have to depend on this Ont Government to keep me waiting for ten years and another ten for any therapy It is just plain bull to think we access to good medical care in country ..Who ever said money won't buy you happiness or health was full of Chit..After that I know I would take care of my immediate family..ten or fifteen percent to some good cause/charity and at 70 I would just blow the rest on frivolous stuff although at 70 we have matured pretty much and it is hard to find to many things that I either want or need..other than new knees..

Winning a high dollar lottery would ruin your life !! If I won 40 million, I wouldn't build the stuff that I need and therefore I wouldn't have the emotional attachment to my toys and the pride of making them. I think half the enjoyment in life is the challenge to acquire the things we want either by saving up or making them. I think lotteries should be limited to 1 million dollars, this way it wont ruin people and will share the wealth among many families.

Hemi's got it right! A win like that only causes more problems than you could imagine! Look at all the new friends and family that would be banging on your new door [you would have to move], as well as as all the usual charities, pestering you for their share. Look at all the past winners that are now destitute because they couldn't handle the money! Giving large amounts to your family will only cause more grief when they lose control of their spending, then they come back looking for more.
Hemi is right, put a million dollar limit, spread the money around, people will still buy lottery tickets, doesn't matter what the prize is! Maybe put some of that extra money towards transportation instead of raising the price of gas!

well since my maximum years I can hope to live is only 40 more ....I could use a million every year .........and would have no problem spending 500,000 at barret Jackson every year and get my own museum....... sure is nice to dreammmmmmmmmm about it and I can still give my daughter and son each 100,000 every year and me and the old lady could still live an easy life with 300,000 a year ......and here s how you spend 40 million while dreaming

Or...

published Dec. 17, 2013

A Calgary man who vowed to donate every penny of a recent multi-million dollar lottery win took the first step Tuesday, cutting a large cheque to a Calgary cancer centre.

Tom Crist first found out that he won the $40 million Lotto Max jackpot in May, but did not claim it until Monday.

On Tuesday, Crist donated $1.2 million to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary. Crist recently became a widower after losing his wife to cancer.

Those who know Crist say it’s simply in his nature to give.

“I was not surprised when I found out what he was going to do with the funds. He's probably the most generous man I've known throughout my whole career,” Darren Buium, a former co-worker of Crist’s, told CTV Calgary’s Chris Epp.

“He's volunteered for years and years and will continue to volunteer for years and years. Good on him, he's a great guy.”

Lottery officials say they survey winners every year and charities often reap the rewards of big wins.

“We hear from winners all the time that part of what makes them happy about winning is the opportunity to share it with other people,” said Andrea Maranz, a spokesperson with the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.

Crist’s promise to give away all his winnings isn’t without precedent though. An elderly Nova Scotia couple won more than $11 million three years ago and has given away most of it.

With a report from CTV Calgary’s Chris Epp

Alright, I've put this off long enough !

1. '31 Ford 5 Window Coupe 427 Eight stack EFI Stroker SBF, TKO 5 speed and a Winters Quick Change, flat burnt orange with      full fenders

2. '66 F-100 Shortbox 302/T-5 5 speed, turquois and white lowered w/ Radirs and wide whites - shop truck

3. '66 427 FE Shelby Cobra Roadster, Blue/White stripes and Viper spec.T-56

4. Late model Marauder 700 hp Twin Turbo Street Sleeper - all black.SICK

5. '63 1/2 Falcon Futura Hardtop, black w/red int, 347 and TKO 5sp, 17s

6. '67 Fairlane GT Midnight blue, white interior 390/TKO 5sp

7. F-650 Excursion body tow rig- all the toys, Black w/tan interior

8. '71 Lincoln MK III 460/AOD Met.silver w/Ox blood leather, air susp.,18s

9. '06 Focus Wagon,charcoal in and out, RWD conversion, 4.6L /5sp/8.8(fun)

10. '79 Fullsize Bronco,4x4, two tone medium blue and white,Lifted,35''tires 460 C-6/bullit proof tranfer case and air locker diffs (more fun)

It needs to be noted that ALL are drivers !!! no trailer queens or glass case show cars!!!

* also note that being limited to ten cars is a giant step backwards for me as my current car count is at 53 and the most I have won on the lottery was $9 on a scratch ticket.

I was asked this question a few years ago on another site, but it was very strict: 10 cars for the rest of your life - no swap outs or substitutions. This is why my list is so versatile, out of necessity, for the rest of my life (still can't imagine only having 10 cars - so weird!)

Of course the cars on my list would have much trouble reaching even 1 million dollars, so that would leave over $9,000,000 to build a suitable home for the ten cars, the shop of my dreams, a nice home - not a castle or mansion and plenty left over for kids, grand kids, parents and if there is any left....gas money! ROAD TRIP!!!
