YOU   got that correct    Andrew would have 75-80% less business without  6.0L and 6.4L  Fords    This Cummings is  FAST

I've heard lots of bad reputations regarding any of the Ford diesels except the mighty 7.3 Power Stroke, all reports were favorable on that one from what I've heard.

I will submit to the fact that the Cummins had an outstanding reputation though.

Sorry guys I disagree yes there was a few problems and Ford tried to ignore them so they never had to recall millions of trucks.Anyone who added power by way of a power chip or larger turbo had head gaskets blown even some stockers had head gaskets go but Ford did come out with a fix that included new head bolts and even added one more to each head I believe. Then there was the oil coolers that were weak and allowed oil into cooling system.I've bought a few of these "bad ones" and spent a day on them and used them for work eventually selling them for a profit. One that I've kept is a early 03 f350 that started life in the florida "glades as a parks truck doing minimal duty in the gardening division. After 100K miles with nothing but oil changes a guy bought it then installed a gooseneck hitch and proceeded to haul boats up to the okanogan (BC) with both him and the truck eventually becoming  canadian.I saw it for sale on kijji when I lived in Kelowna at that time it had 257000 miles on it.He wanted to sell it because on the last trip south he had a bad miss and no power took it into the nearest Ford dealer and had 4 injectors replaced all on the right side it cost him over 5 grand. The price was high but only 4 injectors in 250000 MILES??? I now have 380000 Miles on it and have had to change all injectors a couple times (I blame this on the poor purple fuel we use in the patch) but still no head gaskets or oil cooler since new!! I have never chipped it but do work it hard pulling many over weight trailers off road and through the mud.

Hey Randy, I think that you got one of the good ones. If you talk to repair shop owners, they will tell you that if it wasn't for the repairs/replacements of the 6.0, and 6.4 engines, their shops would be down a bunch. I know a few in this area that have agreed on this. There is a fuel delivery business locally that have several, that have had no issues with these engines, but they change oil and filter every 3000km. Of course the cost of oil and filter to them is a lot lower than what you and I pay for same.

Just sayin

Yes you are right as they had a lot of problems I've from others but that didn't stop me from buying an 08 f350 for myself again I had a couple bad injectors at around 220000 kms but the difference with the 6.4 is even one bad one the engine basically shuts down or has so little power it can't get out of it's own way! A new set and milage is at 280000 now with no other problems I think the bad engine thing is not as bad as others tend to say.I can't believe I'm the only guy that has good luck with them so I've ordered a 15 with the 6.7 that I pick up next month and I will see how that one is at 275000 Kms. I also don't baby these trucks as they spend 90% of the time on oilfield roads which are the worst in the world bar none!! Sorry Carl for hijacking your thread I just wanted guys to know that a few bad apples don't spoil the barrel!IMG_2529.JPGIMG_2725.JPGIMG_3093.JPGIMG_3195.JPGIMG_3195.JPG
