So most of the people on here have probably been through the eighties, and had to deal with the sports cars with no cup holders.

Our school recently got a CNC Plasma Cutter and Auto Cad programs, so I took adventage of the oppurtinity.

This plate I made replaces the stock ash tray infront of my shifter area, and all that has to be done is have some cups bonded to the bottom,

and then determine where the holes have to be drilled, and voilla! Cupholders!

Since this will be my daily  driver next year, I wanted a spot to put a drink.

The plate will be painted black, and have some rockerguard on it to give it that factory crinkly look.

If anyones curious, its made out of aluminum.

Even into the 90's. My Jeep Cherokee had no cup holders.

Good to see that you are putting the new equipment to use.

VHT wrinkle finish paint would be much better than rocker guard - karbelt would be a good try to get it

be sure to read / follow directions though

it fades fast to grey so a top coat of gloss black or a match to your interior paint will help it stay looking good

Thanks for the replys... the school is alright with the tech department, but still treats us hard working people like garbage sometimes.

DJD I will definately check out the wrinkle finish paint, it already sounds better than the rockerguard. I was planning on hitting it with some semigloss afterwards anyways to match the interior better. Ill post pictures of it in the car come spring time when I do the top end of the motor and all my other nick nacks.
