Aluminum rads on Eb@y for flathead?

Anyone here have any experience with the aluminum rads on Eb@y for an A with a flathead?

Even the ones sold in the US, I suspect are all made in China......lol....because they all use the same (or similar) pictures.

Price is great....but how's the quality???

Any personal experience appreciated.

just avoid anything made useing epoxy - yes there are rads out there that are glued together

one of the larger brands selling "custom" aluminum rads in the us started selling epoxy joined rads - I hear they leak new outta the box

to add ,
if you buy a rad and it's not going to get installed or used right away
- take it to a rad shop to be tested for leaks while you still have a warrenty on it

the guy who posted about the rad I mentioned above let his rad sit in the box as he wasn't ready to install it right away

when he did he found it leaked because of the epoxy joints but to late the manufacturer wouldn't do anything about it

I bought a Griffin rad for the 56 Chev,it came with a shroud and fan, works great, ran at 190 in 90 degree weather going to Frankenmuth it even ran cooler at idle, about 180.The cost when all added up was around $ 200 more than the off shore stuff.I checked out some reports on off shore rads and they had some bad posts, twisted leaking etc. I figured i would not be saving anything overheated on the side ofthe road.Purchased at Summit maybe they have a package to fit your application.

I have used  Superior Rad in Mt.Clemons Michigan for a number of rads. They are hand made at the shop and Charlie can put out any configuration you need.  Oh did I say GREAT prices!!! The rad in my 29 , custom bult, was $325. Two friends, 26 ford coach and 23 bucker $225 each

I concur Wayne. I had superior Rad build the rad for Dog Spit and they will customize it to meet your specs. I paid $360US including a custom aluminum shroud to carry an electric fan. I sat there and watched them build it, no imports. They build rads primarily for the Michigan trucking industry and are well known by local hot rodders.

no idea if these guys make aluminum rads , they didn't back in the 80's when I worked there but you can always ask

GT Radiator mfg miss ont

www.google.ca/search

I did see a standard style rad flat fin (industreal) being build for some 30's-40's car

no idea if they do custom one off things but there's no pain in asking

they are/were (?) part of the Clements rad and spring group of shops
(heavy truck service)

it's not a rad shop but a factory

After getting shafted by a rad shop in Toronto for just under $300 (located just south of Yorkdale Mall) that failed to convert an original GM flat 6 rad to SBC (it leaked when I installed it TWO DAYS after picking it up ... there's NO WAY they even bothered to pressure test it), I went with a custom rad made by BeCool (it was actually made at a shop in London Ont). Cost me OVER $1000.00

Yeah, I still walk funny and have trouble sitting for any amount of time.

I am NOT the guy to ask about rads  biggrinbiggrin

What Rochie said,...Superior Radiator !! Charlie is one good dude to deal with !! Ordered one up ( suggested by Rochie ) for my '30 Model A Coach when I was building it,....had it shipped by US Mail,....he told me it would be 5 days to my door,...and it arrived on the 5th day. $302.00 ( complete ) shipped. Told Charlie what the application was,..he asked if I was running automatic transmission ( for cooler line attach ),......and that was it. Mounting brackets mounted on the sides fit the Model a rad cover to a T.
