Hey gang just wanted to pass along the word that the Drag Strip Memories Show Sunday Apr. 19 is fast approaching and is always a cool event with all the drag cars parked around the vintage war planes. Hope you'll come out to support our wonderful drag racing history in Ontario plus support the War Plane Museum. It's always a fun day.

So exactly what should we do to spread the word? We print thousands of flyers and posters and put them in speed shops and garages. We have a very active facebook page. We will have the show mentioned in the Spectator, I've done radio interviews and This our fourth year and we have NO budget. The first year I spent my $ to promote and please keep in mind myself or my partner Tony Hayes make nothing off this event. It is entirely a charity event to raise funds for the War Plane Heritage. The museum helps out a bit but all the work is done by us. I do this to bring together the people that made drag racing in this part of the world what it was, and these people need their story told.
Instead of taking a shot at the show, why not talk it up? Most if not all of the promotion we get is by word of mouth.
This year looks like we going to have more cars then ever including the return of John Petrie with his original Challenger along with a new one shod in his livery. Barry Poole will also be making an appearance along with his Pro Stock Comet, the Paton T/F dragster, the E.L.T.A will be there and they always have good stuff to display, along with many more cars to make us all forget the ****ty winter we just experienced. Venders selling diecast and models and photos and magazines and whatnot, lots of aeroplanes to eyeball, and the best part of the day will be around 4pm when we will have the first Canadian Cackle Fest............
If anyone reading this has a drag car and would like to participate, please contact myself at rpotter396@gmail.com

P.S. thanks Mark for posting this, I was about to start the flood soon.....
SUUUUNNNNDAAAYYY April 19th 9am to 4pm War Plane Heritage Mount Hope BEEEE THERE!!
Rob, I hope the event goes well for you guys. Big undertaking but honestly it sounds like a great day.
I belong to a Canadian Corvette forum and it has been posted there as well. We are hoping to have a bunch of people make the trek down to see the show.
Best of luck. Warplanes and race cars. Not a bad combination at all.
Not taking a shot at your show just the advertising. I've been to everyone of your shows and do talk it up. Haven't seen a flyer, don't do facebook and don't get the Spectator BUT my suggestion would be a listing in Old Autos starting at the first of the year and a much earlier post on this website than 19 days before the event. Hope its a success as its been great in the past.

lol Are you the CHUM FM announcer? lol I had a pretty candid conversation with Bob Larivee Sr [autorama] recently,, and he pointed out in his opinion,, the money spent to have his shows advertized was WAY worth it..
But,, that takes a budget a little above $0 .. you know what success is.. by the money donated! could it be more? YES,, but if you look at a show like Fleetwood Country Cruise in.... you would need a lot more volunteers!
I have heard the ANT HILL MOB hope to have their funny car there .
Rob Potter,
Drag Strip Memories 2015, What a great show. Thank you for all your hard work. That was pure enjoyment. Looking forward to next year's event. It was good to meet you too.
Thanks again.
By the way, ANYONE that did NOT attend; you have no idea of the volume of memories you missed.
That was a wonderful trip down Memory Lane. Better mark next year's calendar as soon as date announced.

Like the "Gwillyville Kid" said......it was a great event.....thanks again to Rob Potter, Tony Hayes and the rest of the hard working crew at this years Drag Strip Memories Show. I'm just getting my voice back....lol..... but we all had a fun day with some excellent people.
Thanks to all the folks that came together to make this show the best one yet! The ELTA folks along with Piston Pushers and drag racers from all eras contributed and the Paton fueler cackle and the Ant Hill Mob's alky flopper fire up capped the day perfectly.
Next year is already being discussed and a date will be forthcoming.
