The Knights Inn 705-324-3213 is only about 1/4 mile away. I started loading up my trailer to-day and will be setting up next Thursday. Getting to old to do it the last minute. That way I will be all rested up to unload in Lindsay. I called to-day and the indoor is full and outdoor has only a few spots left. Being the only all automotive swap meet in the area they seem to be doing very good. Now with the car show on the same venue it will really take off. Here is a YouTube video of last year's event if you have not seen it. www.youtube.com/watch

It is no longer Stirling Automotive Flea Market. They have changed it to Stirling Automotive and Antiques Flea Market now that they are allowing you to sell anything there. They should do quit well I would think as there are no other flea markets in the area like that and should have a good size diverse crowed. It should really pay off for the Agricultural Board and the area that the people in the surrounding are will have a place to sell there goods. The board is learning all the ropes on running a flea market and doing best what is good for the community.

Nice to meet ya Saturday morning. Met a couple of other folks there.

Great weather for the flea. Only managed to find one item, an elusive original 58/59 Assembly manual.

A big improvement from last years weather and with the flea market vending spots sold out and only after 3 years in the new Lindsay location. I met people from Gaetano Quebec vending behind me, Truro Nova Scotia and Michigan. I also recognised a few new venders this year at Lindsay that I used to see at the other flea market. I think with AACA being an all automotive flea market is really starting to paying off. Seeing a very large crowed on Sat. but on Sunday the tourist day I still had a good sales day. I could not get far from my vending site without being called back so I missed the car show on Sat. and here it was pretty well filled with some fine tin on display. But I got a few shots late on Sunday.

The AACA Lindsay swap meet / car show had 530 cars over the weekend. That is almost half what Auto Fest brings in. Now I here they have canceled the down town Lindsay car show to pursue other venues.
By the way Pete nice job on your car the last time I saw it you were still working on it in your garage.

This is exactly what is happening,go support the club fellas, they are the ones after all that do all the work!
On another note,it is probably a rumour but has anyone heard that the AACA has decided to hold their flea market on another weekend because they have finally come to the realization that they will do a much better business when not trying to compete with Stirling the same weekend? I sure hope it's true,it will make for a lot more friends and two much better venues for everyone. Let's not turn this in to an argument, simply asking a question that can be very easily answered by someone in the know!
Cheers,
Chris.

Every few years for the past 44 years AACA sets an earlier date (one week) to accommodate another event I am told. But it will go back to the regular data in 2017. The new location is working out very well with the vending field being filled the week before They had over a hundred cars for sale with venders like Faucet Motors and Easton to name a couple. The show field had over 530 cars over the weekend giving out prizes and cash up to $500.

As for Stirling the Agricultural  Board has their own plans on what kind of flea market they are going to have. If you read the interview Jason Dentlor who is the VP of the A. Board after the first week of their first flea market. He said quote I want it to have something there  for everyone. Then in the adds they are running in the their area they are advertising automobiles to arts and crafts and everything in between. Now I am not saying that Lindsay is better as they are becoming two very different flea markets. Both are working very well with good attendance with vending spots filled so the A. Board and AACA are doing what is good for them selves to keep their event going.

If you look at the past two years more automotive venders are leaving Stirling for Lindsay. So in five years from now Stirling will be very different and that is ok as it is helping the community raise funds with a slow transition to more of a general flea market. These are only me thoughts and I hope both events do well as they have been.

How much of the Lindsay flea market do you have a part of . Man you seem bent on the demise of the Sterling event . Your bitterness is really quite tedious and is getting old real quick. Let it go and enjoy your choice and let others do the same. Two different markets for different tastes get over it . Ed

Ed get a brown paper bag and take some slow deep breaths in it. Now read what I said again and especially the last sentence. I have no ill feelings towards either event as I was expressing my opinion about Steve's comment about both events using the same date does not matter. The two events in a short period of time will attract different crowds.
Ed if you notice they even changed the flea marked name adding ANTIQUES at the end. I will even produce the add and articles that I mentioned for you to read for your self to see why the automotive venders are leaving.
Ed I find it strange that you never said a word when they were trashing Lindsay for four pages. This is an open forum so sit on your hands now also as I am entitled to an opinion. Oh yes I have five sites just down from Gasket City who left Stirling last year.

Sorry I guess I missed the four pages of Lindsay trashing. Personally I no longer vend at any of the markets and don't really give damn to start again. I can however read between the lines of peoples posts even with a bag over my head and my thumb up my ass, so my comment was my opinion of what I had read here over the last couple of years since your club went north. It just seems every year at this time its the same thing over and over. Hope the pissing contest ends and one or the other changes there date and we can have 2 different events to attend in eastern Ontario. Ed

Stirling is a great outing. As far as Lindsay goes, I thought about it but it's an extra 120 miles of driving (60 each way) so unless your sell a lot of stuff it's not worth it. It depends on where you live. I wish the AACA would have stayed in Stirling and I think it only moved as a result of changes in the club executive .

I belong to ACCCC club and the Upper Canada region is having a flea market / car show in Odessa not far from Piction on June 13-14. I think its a smaller meet than Stirling but it will be a chance to see some different cars in the show I have not seen before and a nice area to tour through. I also sold my 1966 Biscayne post original BB sleeper at Lindsay so I am now taking my time looking for a new project. I will never see it again as it is going to Truro Nova Scotia in July / August.

Odessa is a PIA for me. The isle ways are small and the corners to tight to get the motorhome in and out of. I did vend there once and they used me very well but it was set-up more for pick-ups than a 36 footer. There are some deals there though, I will probably just look around.

This was our first time to this flea market and we were very impressed. We will return next year but will only make it a 1 night stay ( we stayed all weekend this time). We were pleased to see it being 95% automotive related . We walked away with a few parts ... carb kits, carb adaptors , old chest to go in the back of the 66 GMC , mirrors, etc.

Does anyone know what the blue 52 GMC truck that was on the trailer sold for? We talked to the guy for 20 minutes and he said he pulled it out of a barn a few days prior .... the truck was in awesome shape. I should have bought it on Saturday because when we went back on Sunday with cash he was gone. :(

I think it was a 1930 Chevy the louvers are on half the hood. With the record crowd they had I never heard anyone that had a bad weekend. The crowd was much smaller on Sun. to be expected but I still sold not bad including the black fleet box and the house trailer we borrowed.

Borrowed from a dealership that Dave hauls from Indiana for. I should ask for a cut then he would want rent. I should mention Pete I was at Dave Wilsons to-day looking over the automotive stuff he is auctioning off in June and there is an Avanti parts car there you might get cheap.

My original 1966 396 Biscayne post sleeper is now on its way to Nova Scotia with the new owner. I know of 5 other cars that sold at the Lindsay swap meet also. So is the old car market improving or was it the big numbers of cars for sale at Lindsay the reason or the large crowd of shoppers. Just queries if car sales or parts were selling at spring Barrie also?????

I see Stirling and Lindsay are back on the same day again seeing Stirling has also now changed their date to the same date Lindsay changed to the last weekend of April. Looks as though they will now always be on the same date.
