Knowing this was coming I just got my last E test done , recently , and renewed my licence plate for the 2 years . We will all need to find a no-scam garage in the future and fortunately I have one here in Belle River . They have been in business for many years and have been fair with me all along .

I'm so sick and tired of hearing about "climate change". This is biggest scam that's ever been pulled over on us and is merely a revenue tool for governments.
Drive clean will be free, because it was a scam from day one but it has to run it's course so they don't get a lawsuit with investments garages put into it. Within a year or two, drive clean will just disappear and be replaced with yearly certifications.

$30 every 2 years, big freaking deal. Costs more than that to fill up my truck once.
Whole program should be scrapped along with the Ontario government.

Yes ... $30 every 2 years ... no big deal ... assuming your car passes each year ... happy to mail in my check ... smile

The big money comes in when they find ANYTHING wrong ... and you have to pay to get your car to pass ... wink

The possibility of bi-annual safety inspections ... wink ... with the new standards applied ... wink ... that's getting REALLY SCARY ... wink

What if they have it applied to ALL vehicles ... no

It is a big deal based on principles, because any vehicle built after 1996 (OBD2) with no MIL light on the dash will pass. They don't even sniff what's coming out of the tail pipe anymore which baffles me. As long as the computer is happy, it doesn't matter what comes out of the exhaust. To me, this is BS, and for this program to have any validity to it all vehicles should be sniffed because that's what really matters. Some cars are being failed because the MIL light is on even though what's coming out of the tailpipe is well within acceptable limits. That to me is not right.

Yeah , first thing my guy asks ..." are there any dash lights on " , and he won't test it if there are . The Check Engine light can mean many different things but that doesn't matter .

He if won't test because the MIL light is on he is doing it wrong. It can be tested with the MIL on but the customer should be informed first that the vehicle will probably fail.

I did drive clean test and repair until I got out of the trade in the spring. Still got my tickets though.

oddly the drive clean test was supposed to be a no charge deal starting in may of 2016
I know this because the guy at the crappy tire where I had my truck tested last april told me to come in in may or last year.. but that wasn't an option as my plate was due for renew in april

also the drive clean inspection was ALWAYS supposed to include a check for obvious safety defects right back to day one
