Hello again: I am researching the air bag systems and struts and cantilever and, well , the list goes on. I'd like to be able to lower my ride but still have a lot of research to do. Any advice? My ride is pretty open so I think a lot of options are open to me.
Air bags are just a spring. Lots of ways to install them. Pick the right bag for the job. Make sure nothing will rub them through the suspension travel.

Something you may want to keep in mind..... design it so you can still drive the car when the air is out.... My car is bagged and one day I had to drive home with no air..... One of my plastic air lines split and I couldn't build air to the bags.
Good thing I planned for it!

The best way to get on your feet is to get off your ass.
Another thing is run 2 air pumps. They will work together for quicker fill time.... also if one malfunctions, you can still get home with the other.
I also have a slower back up system of manual paddle switches in case my electric solenoids loose power or a switch malfunctions.
Even just to air it up or down when the ignition is off.

Thank you for that. Sounds like some good advice. I was planning to use copper line or steel, not plastic. When you say a quicker fill time, what's the rush? Do I need a quick fill time? How long is a quick fill and a slow fill?
Try to get in touch with the man they call "Cat in the Hat" or "Grumps" as I still like to call him. You could probably find him through some of the ELTA guys as he is a member. He has been there and done that on pretty much everything on your list even the cantilevers. He doesn't seem to go onto forums much anymore.

depending on the size of your air tank.... Mine is a 5 lb tank and with two compressors filling it from empty is around 3 min.... so if you want to hear the compressor running for longer and more heat and wear on the compressor, than just get 1.
If you look just ahead of the body mount on the side of the frame you'll see that I have a coupler for an air line... I can either fill the system with my shop air or run my airbrush when I'm out at show or even fill a tire if I need to.
Crappy picture but these are the compressors and the tank. the solenoids for the back are on the tank and the front ones are on the side of the frame.
