For those who were wondering what happened to the March car show, there is a new show in town. The other show simply closed down. The new show has a new owner with some new ideas and the same date, the second weekend of March at the same location, the International Center. Follow the link below to see more about the show.
I have been working this show since it started out as Motion Auto Show in 1974 and I'll be there again this year, taking photos and sitting in with the artists and pinstripers. I'll also be painting some of my decorative gear shift knobs and selling photos and DVDs.
Come on out and see some spectacular cars and watch the pinstripers and artists create car art right in front of you...and buy something :)
I'm going to this show. Were putting 2 rods in it. The 31 Chev Sedan Delivery and my 30 Ford Tudor. The new show owner is Mike Holmes from Holmes on Homes. Should be a good show, I enjoyed it last year.
1 - Mike Holmes is NOT the owner of Megaspeed (I know the owner and he is not Mike) but he is one of the feature attractions. Mike does own a couple of hot rods, both 32 Ford roadsters, 1 red, 1 blue. 2 - yes, Performance World is dead :( 3 - the show is shaping up very well and should be a good show. The new owner has a few ideas he is putting into the show and it mat take a year or two or three to get everything implemented. 4 - don't miss it :)
El,Cheapo here, whats the door rate??? Hope it's not like the car show downtown?? That was a HIT in the wallet, for any family to go to,gas, parking & entrance fee!!!!! These promoters have to take that into consideration, if it's too costly, people can't afford to go!!!!

The admission has not been announced yet but you can expect about $20 for an adult. Check the website to see if there is a discount coupon available. There is free parking at the International Center.
I'm still undecided on whether to make the trip from Ottawa. Historically the show has been pretty good. Hopefully the new owners put on a quality show.
FYI...the show managers were in Detroit this past weekend at the Autorama checking out a few cars that are coming to Megaspeed. I think it's going to be a good show.
Think I'll pass on this, save the $100+ it will cost me to go, & put the time & $$$ into the 52 June's not that far off & thats my goal to "get er done"

I should be there most of the weekend with Dads AA/Altered in the Piston Pushers Display. They are doing a scale version of the old club house. Should be a great show from what I have heard.

You guys are making this sound really great, I'm looking forward to it as it sounds like a must see for us Toronto boys. Cost is minimal when you live in the big smoke. I spilled more than $100 at Traders last week DQ-Pete.

Ray, think you'd better seek "medical attention" for that shaking problem, or "start using a Straw"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always liked Performance World although it lost a few car guys over the years. It's $30 to enter a car and it's a great show in my opinion. I've heard from some of the guys working the show they have some new ideas for this year and I think I heard something about a Bikini contest or maybe wet t-shirt contest...not 100% though.
I will even be there showing the drawing's for my new project which will be first time shown for next years show...you won't want to miss next years show!!!
I'm a member in Piston Pushers..we have a display in this year that will blow you all away!!16 cars,3/4 scale model of original club house, memorabila, record setting drag cars from early days(Charlie Horse) to mention a mere tid bit! Also have a meet/greet area,so stop in and into yoursel..I'll be there Thursday for set up,Sunday for day..hope to meet some you.Show should br worth the cake guys, don't let Canadian show history fizzle just from one poor years show!!!New owner has alot of fresh and new ideas..look forward to maybe seeing some of y'all!
I'll be there, looking forward to meeting whoever is going. Next question though, how are we going to know whos who? Are we all going to just meet up or are we going to have some way of noticing other members.

An idea of a meet up at the car show was mentioned....Why dont you guys that are going PM each other and set up a time and place....I will put it on the top banner of the board.
I will be at the booth marked 'Brush Rush North' with the pinstripers and other artists for most of the weekend in hall 3. I am also doing photography over the weekend as well as some work at Horton's Street Rods at the front hall. If you guys want to meet up, I suggest you find me at the pinstripers booth and go from there. If you want a place to eat before or after the show, go down Airport Road to 'Zet's' diner, it's open 24/7 and the food is good and affordable.
I plan on going on Saturday, but that can change with out much notice. How does 3 P.M. Sat., Hall 3, by the Brush Rush North booth sound. I will be there for sure Thursday afternoon for load in and Sunday all day.

you bet!For anyone who doesn't know the car slammed35 is referring to(you must live under a rock!)The Charlie horse is a piece of Canadian drag racing history, with record setting passes at nationals,as well as cleaning house at most tracks around here in the day!I've had the pleasure of hearing her run, sends goose bumps! Also had the pleasure of getting to know Charlie Haviland over last few years,a tremendous guy,a wealth of knowledge, and always good for a laugh!!I have an autographed pic from him that hangs with pride in my shop..take the time to meet him guys, and a few other drag legends as well at Piston Pusher lounge!!

Just became a Piston Pusher tonight! They are having a club photo taken at the MegaSpeed club display at 1:00 pm on Saturday so I won't be able to do the 1pm meet and greet thing. Have we decided on a time to meet up yet. Would maybe 11:00 am work better so it could spill into a lunch gathering? The Piston Pusher display sounds over the top. Its reported to be 5000 sq. ft. of club history and iron. I don't want to miss out on the photo op as it will be a historic event for the members. Biggest club undertaking since the 50's!!!

I'll be there Saturday morning, helping my brother man the Horton Hot Rods booth near the front, until the owner shows up early afternoon after closing the store. You can say hello to the skinny dude with very little hair. LOL
cheers Ed

If you want to meet Saturday at the show, I will be at the 'Brush Rush North', the artists and striping booth, Saturday afternoon at 2PM, painting some figure heads or something. Just ask for Picasso or look for my painted lady :)
