My '65 Ford F250

Hey everyone, thought I'd share some pics of my project... some may have already seen these, but this is a new forum so I'll share them on here too!

Bought it in 2002... It was built at the Mahwah New Jersey Ford plant. It was purchased new by the "Somerset Briddle Path Assn." out of Bernardsville NJ which was a horse back riding organization. I assume it was used just around a farm property as the milage is very low (documented 28,000 miles when I bought it, now at 33,000) Still retains original paint with patina smile Drove it for a while as it was, then tore into it a couple years later to do all of the things I wanted, working on it when I could Its been "done" and on the road for 3 years now. I love cruising and gettting to cruise nights and shows when I can...

It's a '65 Ford F250, 300 straight six, 3-on-the-tree, 9" rear ('64 F100) with 3:25 gears, front disc brake swap ('77 Ford F100), lowered front with 3" drop I-Beams and 2" drop coils, lowered rear with axle over and C-notch...

Here's how it looked the day I drove it home...

Here's the tear down....

Repairing the box... the box floor was the worst area with some holes, so I found a mid 60's box with a solid floor and cut the sides off of it. Then cut the original sides off my truck box and welded them onto the solid floor. I didn't want to just find a replacement box because the sides were in good shape and I wanted to keep the whole appearance of the truck the same with the original paint/patina. It was a ton of work but worth it for the end result.

Adding front disc brakes... after installing drop I-Beams I used spindles from a '77 F100 with new king pins etc. This took the bolt pattern from 8 lug (F250) to half ton 5 bolt pattern.

Adding the power brake booster and new master cylinder... bought as a kit and was a direct bolt onto the firewall. So now I have power disc brakes... a fairly straight forward upgrade but makes a world of difference! Not to mention the safety factor!

Detailing the engine... added valve cover and painted a few pieces. The motor runs great so I didn't have to tear into it at all. Just had starter and alternator rebuilt along with new rad. Also added a Pertronix electronic ignition.

Here's the '64 F100 that was the donor for the 9" rear end... this was my truck I actually bought it in high school with hopes of fixin her up, but then other life events prevented me from going further with it. By the time I was ready to start on it years later, it was in pretty rough shape, so I decided to try and find a truck that was more solid. Which I did with the '65 smile

Rear of frame painted and mounting axle from the '64. Using this axle gave me the 5 bolt pattern on the rear to match the front half ton spindles I used. Rebuilt the rear drum brakes as well...

Box almost done...

Mounting box back onto frame... All new brake lines, fuel lines, hoses etc...

And here's how it looks today.... Added Coker Whitewalls and a spray in box liner which turned out nice...

The Ford truck twin "I" beam is a completely different setup from the cars...no way it would work . A later model Galaxie with disks might work

Canucktruck - "65 Effies Rule".... I agree!!! lol... I'd love to cruise sometime! Your truck is sweet!! Will I be seeing you at the Ford truck Nationals in Arthur this year? I believe I've seen your truck there before? I'll check out the club website, thanks!

Chevyboy - Thanks for the comment, I don't have the red '64 anymore... took off most usable parts and sold the rest (basically just cab and frame)
