Managed to find two original 1948 fenders for the rear step side. They are a little rough. Also found an original Studebaker tail gate. Bent the 10ft box this week out of 1/8 steel plate in one piece. Yes one piece. My friends shop has a bender that took this 8ft by 10ft piece of plate and bent it in the machine all by itself. Unbelievable. This is gonna be heavy duty and I mean heavy duty. Next we have to make the pockets on the sides and the front of the bed. GVW on this truck is 12,800lbs. I should be able to drop engine blocks, bricks, etc., into the back of this thing, and it won't even move.
Well, we got a little more work done on the truck box. The front is on the box and we are just squaring up the back and making the sides to fill in the space between the tailgate and the box. Angle iron at the bottom and the cross bar in the box are just there to help square up the tailgate end. Then we have to cut the stake pockets and install. Almost there.....
