thanks ratdaddysrod
you know i like your truck!
since you ask i really like the gasser style race cars and that is the direction I am going in.
I am not trying to copy a "real" gasser truck i just like the style of a straight axel and instead of slamming this one i what to rase it up.
I am trying to stay true to mopar and something a kid would do in the 50's
getting parts from the junk yard where i can.
i am swapping out the rear end for a 88 Dakota rear and i will be getting the front from Lucky 7
I have a 1955 Dodge 270 hemi and a Dakota 5 speed that will be put in the truck.
I promised my wife that this is a long term project so for the moment my budget can only afford the chop and the suspension upgrades.
as soon as i do more i will post a pic.
thanks

Those old Mopar trucks look great, even better with a top chop because they are so tall. Fortunately we are seeing a bit more of them as vintage tin is getting so scarce that in my opinion, the non-Ford builds are gaining popularity. I still love old Fords and have built several of them but, over the past few years at the car shows; I barely give them any attention. I think I've seen them all way too many times. Now, the more uncommon stuff seems to grab my attention! With a chop and an early Hemi, your truck is gonna be really awsome!
Seem like you're keeping it all Mopar that's even better.
Keep on Rodding

To me , the top chop makes a humogus difference, it takes away the "too tall" look of these trucks. In my opinion, It now looks the way it should have when the factory built it. Looks like they did a great job with the chop.

i agree the "pilot house' design was just begging to be fixed.
and props to Stony at Oddball he really did his homework for this chop did a great job laying out the cut lines so the welding/filling was at a minimum.

thanks again for the positive comments Stony is now working on getting the straight axel in place of the original this is coming from Lucky 7
little by little

Hey Steve,

I just watched Daily Planet and saw the process of your truck being chopped at Oddball on the "Allen Nursall" experience segment!! You didn't tell us your truck was going to be famous and on TV! lol... I saw the preview and was like "hey I know that truck, he's on the forum!" Now I know who that other guy in the pic is with Stony! Thought it was pretty cool... the truck looks sweet. Keep us updated.... Cheers

Ya about that...chop

thanks guys long story short Stony had a truck lined up for us to shoot and our shoot dates changed and he has an offer on the truck so he sells it. now we have a shoot but no truck.
I consider myself very lucky that the timing worked out.
When I bought the truck it was under the condition of a long term project.
so the chop happened a little sooner than expected.

and thanks for watching the show I am not here to plug it i'm here for the hot rods
but thanks.
