So this is my theory as to why all the new restrictions on old cars.The government ownes a very large part of the auto industry(bailout billions).They need to sell a lot of new cars to get paid back,if that is even part of the deal.To boost sales of new cars they have to get the older cars off the road.So they come up with a new set of regulations about older cars and removing polution devices as some unscruplious drivers are removing them to get better milage or speed or its just plane expensive to replace them.Word goes out nail the auto criminals so they do but since the young enforcement officers don't know or care the difference between an 87 and a 57 everybody gets nailed.The powers that be also say to the insurance industry we want all these unsafe polution spewing 20 year old vehicles off the road so if you make it very difficult to insure these old cars and we(the government)won;t look at your(the insurance industry)obseen profits.Next step in the name of public safety(they are doing it for our own good they say)yearly safety checks for cars 10yrs or older.The other reason, conformaty, governments like everything and everybody to be the same ,easier to controll that way when the time comes.Anyway thats how I see it. Thats a pretty good theory and probably has some truth in it.. Most old "old car" guys also buy newer cars for themselves and family.. The government and insurance comp.s don't mind taking in millions in taxes and revenue from Hobby car guys... The Hot Rodding industry brings BILLIONS into the economy... The non hot rod a/h's in Government have no clue... until we are gone... kinda like Canadian jobs
I can see the yrly. inspection coming as well. Just look at the news on a holiday wknd. & the OPP safety "blitz" on the 400 series Hwys. & the # of cars & trucks they "take off " the road. In Ont. a vehicle only gets inspected when it changes ownership, so many out there go for decades & never see an inspection again. I know the Atlantic prov. have yrly/ Insp & some out west. Most US States have it as well!!! If you keep your vehicles in top shape then theres nothing to worry about [other than it will be a PITA] But it will likely be another "boondoggle" of a F/up if the Gov. runs it,just like "DRIVE CLEAN, E- Health, OLG. Ornge air recue etc.!!!!! I'll stop there as it's a long list!!!!!!!

I have grown up in a green family father and older brother ran for the NDP . I can tell you we are an enemy to a lot of those people dont kid yourself. I do know for a fact the original promoter of the Ottawa Autorama sold because of the green NDP mayor of Ottawa at the time was denying expansion plans. She also was making more rules every year. The greens are not old car friendly and are teaching our youth in schools there ideology. Both my kids have come home from school telling me all kinds of crap they were told by teachers pushing there beliefs to my kids. Can I have one of those hats or maybe ponhco can do a how to article it the tech section.
