They were supposed to be a compact for the Edsel division but the Big E folded before they hit the market so Mercury got it as a "Falcon" of its own.

Those tail lights have Edsel P/N's on them.

Hardtops didnt come out until 63 on Comets and Falcons.....they also started putting v8s in them then too

I'm "afraid' to go, I'd take the car trailer "just in case" & likely get myself in trouble!!! Did that when I went to "look" at the 52 Torpedo Back in Grimsby, & you know that it followed me home.But sometimes that works out, as seller knows your not a "tire kicker" & you can "wheel & deal"
