Splash Guard Material Needed
Permalink

Doing some mods on my radiator shroud and need a 4 x 1 foot section of splash apron  material. I think it's called masticated fiber.

Anyone knows where I can source a stip of this material? (Preferably local)

A strip of heavy rubber (1/8 " thick would also do).

Thanks,

Vic

My brother had to replace the splash guards on his inner aprons of his '64 Marauder.  He didn't find the original stuff but he did find a really good replacement material. It was some sort of matting. I texted him so hopefully he'll respond soon with what it is he used.

Maybe a piece of conveyor belting? Wouldn't hold a shape i don't think, unless that wasn't important depending on the application? Lots seem to be 1/4 but there must be thinner ones?

He just replied: he used black rubber hall runner from Can Tire of all things. Then cut it using the old ones for a template. They were rotting from oil and pretty crumbley

It's not real local to you, but Rubberline Products in Kitchener would carry 1/8" rubber gasket materials in sheets that might work. Or someplace like EMCO or a plumbing piping supply store should be able to order in the same material. Could get black in either EPDM or straight rubber, would stand up to most oils and just about anything you throw at it.

Automotive Restoration Supply in Prescott carry it in bulk, bought it many times before to make A arm flaps, radiator side seals, gas tank insulation between the straps/tank and lots of other uses. They where at Sterling this weekend, will be at Barrie next.
