Sunday morning car shows on TV
Permalink

Sitting here drinking my coffee, watching these car shows on Speed......If its not some over advertised pitch for certain car parts companies, its some weird touchy feely host, that I wouldnt let near my grandchildren. Not to mention that they are all reruns which we have seen 100 times before. At least the Speed shows try to be informative rather than put on the drama like the Discovery and A&E shows........

I guess we shouldnt be complaining, as there used to be next to nothing on TV for the car guys except maybe 15 minutes of drag racing or NASCAR on Wide World of Sports once or twice a year.

What are you favorite automotive shows on TV?

The 30 seconds on Powerblock in between shows when Courtny Hansen says somthing about nothing... other than that most shows have degraded into one big advert.

I used to love "Victory by Design" on Speedvision. Soon as Fox bought it I knew it was the death knell for me watching it.

Of course I love BBC's Top Gear but don't get to see it much. Thank god for youtube

I was out side at the flea market by 7:30 then home cleaning up the yard from the winter. Came in to see a little NASCAR then the perfect warm sunny day called me back out side.
Just came back in for another beer and back out to the fire pit. Got to love this weather.

Most car type shows are more about selling the 1-800 type parts to the well healed. That is what pays the bills so most I never watch. Now a show that was about a bunch of rag tag back yard hacks would be fun but wouldn't draw enough sponsorship to pay for it self. It would be more like a comedy any ways.

Got that Shaw gateway now. I am PVRing everything now. It is great. I can watch powerblock in about 10min. Fast forward through all the commercials. Ya Victory by design was the best with Alan D driving the crap out of all those million dollar cars. Loved turning the sound up on those ones....ya baby....

If im watching anything on the weekends its usually Powerblock on speed. I just ignor the overloading of crap promotion and focus on the tips they give. Other than that, Monday nights on speed I watch pass time and benchrace with the buddies.

I pray a lot and not just Sundays. I pray the car will start at the cruse night, that we don't run out of gas on the 401 ,that knocking sound isn't as deep as it sounds at the end of the race, you know all the standard hot rod prayers. Ed

I used to watch power block a lot, not so much anymore, as I don't have the cash to call and order all the parts I need all the time. I catch a bit of Past Time nightly as the kids are being put to bed, and try to catch Car Crazy and Gearz when I can. PVR is a wonderful thing, not sure what I watched or why I watched it before we got it.

One show I really miss is Junk Yard Wars, it was on Discovery before it went reality TV like every other station on TV these days. That was a show taking literally junk and making some pretty cool things out of it.

I actually go to church. These shows play Sunday morning because Sunday mornings are a traditional dead zone for viewers and air tme is cheap so these shows are used as time slot fillers.

Two Guys Garage 'used" to good, but not now, the one Brian [with goatee] is a good fabricater, but the other guy can't say a sentence without a whole lot of hand motion & doesn't know what he's talking about!!! You never see them with a "torch" in their hands trying to loosen a bolt, nothing breaks off, & everything comes loose with a hand tool!!! That never happens in on my projects????? Doing a lot of bikes & crap as well!!!!!

I enjoy Gears and Hot Rod TV. I can take or leave the others. Victory by Design was a fantastic series even if you aren't a big fan of foreign sports cars. I think it's out there in DVD. Awesome with surround sound!
