The remote filter oil line blew off my Sonoma 4x4 today. Drove about 2 miles from where it let go to when the engine quit. Whats the chances the bearings/crank are not screwed?
All you can do is hope.......It may have some damage, but unless you tear it down, you may never know......I would drive it.keep an eye and ear on things...If it goes, then tear it down
They changed the line out today on the Sonoma for $150 parts and labour. So far it seems to be ok. I guess time will tell. Stopped and looked at a 97suburban 4x4 up the street from me. High km but runs great Has very little rust. Its e tested good rubber and well maintained. Has $60 in fuel in the tank $1000
Almost a couple of weeks and the Sonoma is still running fine. I bought the Subarban for $850 so I have back up. The thing has 10 ply tires on it so I loaded it up with engine parts and took it to Ancaster. 160 litre fuel tank. think I`ll cross the boarder to fill this puppy up.
My neighbour's wife thought she'd do him a favour and get the oil changed at a Quick Lube of some sort for him on their 90 Chrysler. The clowns didn't do up the oil filter and it puked all the oil out without him knowing until it stalled dead. Motor wouldn't move. I told him to scrap it cause its done like dinner. He persevered with oiling down the cylinders and cranking on the crank pulley with a long bar until he could get it to move. That was last summer and the car still lives today. Doesn't smoke at all. Unreal!
Bottom line is...cross your fingers cause you never know what can happen. Good luck.
