Bugs on the windshield?

Hey everyone got a question for you....

I went for a cruise in the truck today... had a blast, what a nice day!! However I ran into the same problem I get almost everytime I cruise... BUGS! There were so many bugs that exploded on my windshield I almost couldn't see! Then when I got home I spent like half hour trying to wipe the sticky guts of, only to have it just smear around. I finally got it clean but wanted to ask what you guys use for bug removal?? Do you have a secret??? I know there is a bug and tar remover you can buy, anyone use that? Let me know how you deal with this problem! I love cruising but hate dealing with the aftermath lol

I tend not to worry too much about it....Right now, my truck is covered in bird crap. I dont know if its the colour or what, but it attracts the birds. For bugs on the windows, I use Windex with one of those green scrub pads you get at the dollar store....Then paper towel.

Earlier this year I had the old car up in Lindsay (heading to Fenelon Falls, was picking up a boat) ... I was meeting the person I was getting the boat from at the Lindsay airport. I got there early so I spent some time waiting in the car ... I noticed I had plenty of bug guts on my windshield, I then noticed what looked like a regular house fly eating the guts of some of the other flys. Might take a while but like they said in Jurassic Park ... "nature has a way".

So, you're obvious question would be "where do I get flys when I want my windshield cleaned?" ... very good question. I haven't actually tried this yet but the Toronto Zoo sells "Zoo Poo", I just might buy some "Zoo Poo", keep it in the car and when I need the bug guts cleaned off I will open the packages, set one on each side of the cowl and attract the flies. Once they arrive, they will see the "buffet" on my windshield and commence eating.

Might be worth a try :)

On my 58 and 68 I use rain-X or Rain-Away. When I get home from a drive I simply grab a face cloth or small terry cloth and just use some water. Dry off the water with a clean towel and done. been doing it for years. Daily car...just smear it with the wipers and washer fluid!

Armour All makes an automotive window cleaner which works quite well.  I have also used Rain-X window cleaner which works well too.

I hate the summer time bugs too but found the easiest thing to get them off either the same day or next is using liquid wax, i have a carnuba wax and wipe it on with an old sock only for the windshield, apply the wax and wipe it off, protects the glass and rain beads off too, works great.

i use rain-x myself. but on another tangent i was out on the eastcoast for the atlantic nationals and had gone down to halifax, on our way back we came through the duck swallows in sackville on the border between ns and nb. in the space of 5 min our windshield on the 55 was covered with bugs to the point i had to get off the hiway to scrub it clean.

Haha this would be a good idea... would be a hell of a lot easier!

I'll give the Rain-X a try and maybe the wax idea too... Thanks for your replies! I just wanted to see if there were any secrets out there, although Rusty Nuts "Zoo Poo" would be a great secret LOL

I dont mind the ones on the windshield so much, they are pretty easy to clean off....Its the ones that get ground right into the paint.....have to be more careful there

I use the sponge with the pot scrubber on one side, spray on the glass cleaner, use the scrubber & then the paper towel + Rain X on the glass!!! Bugs are "proof" you drive it!! That's what I told people in West Virginia at a show there, while cleaning the W/S On the 64 Catalina!! Heading there again for June 1st show in St Albans.
