any ontariorodders know if there s any auto flea market in the north or if there was ever one before.................been in sudbury since the 70 s i know car shows are even hard to find but what swamp ............is it that car guys just don t have interest or won t stay together like the boys in south...........i been reading post and enjoying stories about the boys meeting eachother...........even a group that save one flea market..............and here it s like dead ............out of all the people i see from north on this site there don t seem to be that joy of meeting anyone................i guess i m probably not the best guy to meet lollllllllllllllll
but if some have interest summer time is coming i probably will have the red probe driving around to local cruise night s in the valley on Saturday and sudbury Sundays ...........and hopefully the 1965 Galaxie..............i more likely will be to one cruise night in north bay and also will be at the car and bike show Northbay in september ............and i was down south a few weeks ago but only for quick 2 days to short on time..................i got my ticket book for a stockcar driving experience 17 august if someone want to see me crash lolllllllllllllll in Barrie Speedway
Its like anything else down here my friend...its simply numbers. On the up side...you guys DO have more than your fair share of black flies!! Just sayin.

Nothing ever gets done if you waite for the other guy to do it .If you or your club want to start some kind of swap meet try to get together with a local church group or service club in your area .Tell the local chamber of commerce or business group how many visitors this will bring into town and howmuch money they will spend on food, gas ,camping or lodgings.Lots of them will take in the local attrctions and shopping in the towns. The local people will soon learn to have there yard sales on the same weekend .The point is to start working on it and selling the point that it could be very lucritive for the town, the service club the local business and everyone in town .You say there is nothing like this near you ,that to me is the biggest thing in your favour.Start small and keep at it,but get together with a couple of like minded people and do it yourselves.Maybe start with a trunk sale twice a season at one of the cruisses or shows or the pits of the local track or drivein parking area or any large flat area, lotsof ways to start but you need to start there is never any harm in trying to do something . I wonder if something could get done in conjunction with that new motorsports park that is supposed to be going in.....or that big car show they have in downtown North Bay every year?
I think there is just not enough of us this side of Barrie to have any swap meets that would make a go of it...and for that matter anything car related... i think it was tried here in North Bay years ago and was a flop due to non participation and cooperation of the city..From what i have seen of this city in the past 43 years living here, North Bay doesn't want anything to do with car related events...Take the King of the hill drags here for example...the city was against it from day one and it finally got pushed out.Not to stir any crap up or start any , flatduck, but the hotrodders in our neck of the woods are a breed of their own...its a who you know, how much money you got and how shiny is your car group.i attended the bell park show for years...met alot of good people but met alot of snobs to...more of the latter......unlike south of here,in most cases, it really don't matter what you got, it's a c'mon over and join us type of people..thats what i have found over the past 35 years of this hobby anyways...I'll travel the 2-3-4-5-6 hours to events just because i find there is more stuff available and the people treat you for what and who you are and stand for...just my .02 cents worth.Hopefully , and i am sure it will, when the track gets opened here, attitudes will change on both the people and surrounding towns/cities.
well i sure wish the track will help change things for the future of the car hobby in the north.........but to change the snobs attitude is like impossible...............there should be any reason why flatblack ideas wouldn t work around here but ? Fast Chevy got it more posted like what is the reality here in the north .......i just didn t post my ideas or experience but there kind of similar.................in real life.........i was kind of looking at the site and it look like the same hot rodders in north aren t really exchanging anything according to posting
i know we can t ever have a flea market the size of Barrie ,we don t have a city with 3 million people beside us ,, but but a smaller meet could be fun
as far as the old Bell park car show..........now part of history........... Fast Chevy....... what can you expect to meet when the biggest snob there was the president of the car club who was running the event ..........i used to work with him for lot of years ..........just never could stand him for some reason
sounds like it has you down flatduck...don't let it though....half the fun is in the travelling...to me anyways...you are right it seems on the "northern group" ...seems the guys around here don't or won;t part with anything and if they do, its priced way out to lunch. they want ridiculous prices or top dollar...i will be the first to admit i am a cheap sob, but i do know the value of some stuff and buy/sell it accordingly...i listed some stuff on kijiji under the north bay area...not one call from here or surrounding area...it all went south....come to think of it, i have sold very few if anything up this way over the years unless it was to a buddy or something. you ever feel like going to a swap meet somewhere, gimme a shout, i am usually game for a road trip
looks like when you try to sell locally people know what you paid and the expect you to sell it for the same price i have one car i bought back in 2000 ....offer it to one guy and that was his first words ...ya but you only paid so much ..........going towards your side this weekend leaving Thursday but heading to Quebec and coming back Monday................sure would mind going for a ride got all the month of august pretty near book every weekend got a plan and than september i ll be in North bay at the car and bike show but i m going for the stereo competition .............if you see the red car with the stereo on the pic and somebody wearing anything that s got Jeff Gordon name that probably be me ...........if you go to the cruise night in northbay let me know i may plan an evening ride in June if my daugther got her car ready
It takes yrs. to get a car show or swap meet succesfull, if your looking for that in 1st attempt, you'll be dissatiefied!!!! My car club [ Country Car club] ran the Cannington "rodder weekend" for over 30 yrs, but it took 2 to 3 yrs. before it "took off" Grew to almost 350 cars per show untill we had to "pack it in" due to excessive cost of twnp. park rental & Gov. intervention of food vendors, & a pile of other costs!!! If you want it you have to stick with it!!!!!
