What a great day at the races.

This was an awsome day at the races. It was the first offical outing of the Ganaraska Ratlers car club.We left the resturant late, surprise, but on the good side found out they are nice people and make a really good western sandwitch.Stopped for gas lost half the convoy, just a hint for nextime lead cars should look in the mirror once in awhile, but on the good side saw some of the missing ones who were late leaving, bad side they just kept going by.Anyway finally got to Picton and got every one together and Grumpy pulled out the club sign he and Susan had made up.It was really cool and marked our area of the pits as The Snake Pit,and it was big enough that people who knew us could find us. Then the racing started ,there was every kind of rig there that you could think of ,rails, tons of really quick really cool gassers, lots of rat rods, tuners, desel trucks, anything and everything and it seamed the majority of racers were street driven cars.I had a blast racing and won some and lost most but what a really good day.Grumpy wasn't shure at first but at the end of the day we couldn't get him off the track.T.J.was racing everytiing that moved and doing pretty well and Fatstax was doing good til he had a bit of a problem, but we will get that sorted. We hung out with Lightspeed Mike and man is that ride of his ever quick ,but I will let him tell his story,I had a chance to meet Fast Chev but I was in the staging lane at the time so did not get to say more then a hello, hopefully we will see him at the next one.It is hard to describe the feeling of a race,it starts with the smack talk then the challange, you then line up and the good natured smack talk continues in the line up till the guy waves you onto the track. You line up at the end and watch the guys in front of you go ,then its your turn .You roll up to the line a guy lines you up,buy this time you have forgotten about the guy beside you and are thinking and checking ,am I in first and telling yourself its ok to squeel the tires and let her go here, don't let off here ,no cops here, all this going thru your mind at once. Then the starter points at you ,you nod your head you're ready then he points to the other guy,oh ya him.The starters arms go up you start to build revs and he drops his arms,go.Thru the gears watch the tach it seams like the engine is screaming for mercy ,then its over just like that its over .Did I win ,where is the other guy.Now we are laughing and pointing at each other on the return road, friends again, whats that you wanna go again,ok buddy its on.The weather was beautiful, the cars were quick and as I said before there was something for everyone. The Armdrop guys and gals really work hard and put on a really good show smooth line up you can run your friends or anyone you want,as many times as you want, you just have to line up beside them.Every thing about the event seams geared to you haveing fun and I would like to thank them fo a great day. Thanks also to the rest of the Ratlers it was a really fun outing and to be together as a group. We smoked some tires and wasted some gas ,what better day could you have than that.  Ed

Sound like fun was had by all. I have never done an arm drop start, always from the tree. You never know we might be down your way touring and drop in on them one day. We did get to the Z max strip a few years ago and watched the arm drop when they had it there.

Couldn't have asked for a better day at the track. Weather was awesome and no bad attitudes to be found. The Armdrop guys did a fantastic job of running and organizing the event. Got to meet Atomsplitter and hang around with Ganaraska Rattlers car club. Colin and his Dad from Far from stock were there and invited my daughter and I to hang around under their sun shelter which we did, thanks guys. I ran a bunch of races and won a few and lost a few. I sure surprised myself (and a few V8 guys) to how well my 4 cyl Toyota powered truck ran. I beat Fatstax, last I heard was something about a lousy rebuild engine and a new 400 small block to drop in. I must have done well enough because I ended up getting the fastest Rat Rod trophy. I think I got it by default LOL. All in all a great time and hope to do it again in September.

Hey Ed, happy to hear she got you home safe, and you kept her in one piece..... I hope that some day I can finally talk you into replacing that tired old SBC for that nice little Hemi in the old Chrysler out back, now that would suprise a lot of people at the track!!!!! Whatca think Rob, shouldn't be to hard? Right?? All ya gotta do is.....

Fastchevy, we were drooling over that car all day, very nicely turned out, and runs as good as it looks. You brought it all the way down from Northbay to!!!! Very cool of you. Would be great if we could see more of that kind of respones to these events. Glen and his crew put a lot into them and for someone to travel that far is just great to hear. Thanks for joining us for the day Fastchevy, hope to see you at the next event and maybe even get to meet you.

Chad, thanks for the pic's of that great looking Chevy!!!

A bunch of my friends went. Apparently george in his nova got some sort fo trophy, Marcel sold his blue cutlass, and Ron was unable to hook at all and laid rubber the entire length of the track in his primered cutlass.

Wasn't there another thread with pics on here?
