I am a complete newbie to automotive, but have the ability to learn quickly, and problem solve. And I wasn't too bad at welding in school. My father was a mechanic his whole life, so I want to believe something has rubbed off on me.
I am looking to start my first rat-rod build. I don't have very much money as I have just bought my first home, and welcomed my first child into this world. However, I am handy, and build homes for a living and I am willing to trade some labour, advice, whatever.....for that hunk of rust, lawn ornament, or barn burner car that you don't really have any use for or care about.
I am not sure really what I wanna do yet, but I think that I will let whatever comes to me decide what I will build. I would prefer to build a rat-rod pick-up....that way i could still use it for work...but beggers can't be choosers.
If you know of anyone who has something from the 30's up to the late 50's just sitting around collecting bird sh*t, spider webs, or dead mice, please spread the word, and let them know about me...or you let me know where I could find them.
Also, if anyone knows of other dudes doing the same thing, or places where rat-rodders meet or hang out, I would love to meet them, or go there. I'm a little new to the area so any info will be greatly appreciated.
