well i have been away from this project for five months, trying to finish up the pull truck.

Its done now and workign awesome so back at this one.

Got the front clip mocked up, the ladder bars and rear cover mounted, started on the rad mount, made a custom Mercury grille/emblem,

my list of to do items is three pages long but hope to have it fired thisd week as I am on holidays till next Tuesday

The truck is very decieving in the pics - the front is actually 5" lower tha nthe back but looks nose high here

well , yesterday she fired, took a couple rolls to get fuel into the motor through the blower. From there it was half a roll to fire every time, so a pretty good guess on timing for a first setup try

What an amazing sound between the gear drive cam, and the blower whine.

and seriously throaty on the open headers

totally stoked

also got the power hood hinges done using small linear actuators

just need to finish mounting the rad and she is ready for a test spin

:)

what a sweltering weekend.

too much heat to really get anything much done

exhaust is all mocked up ready for final welding, and the rad install that I thought would be maybe 2 hours turned into 7.5 hrs, and i still need to mount the rad fans.

Anyone know where i can get one of those thermostat switches that turns the fans on and off by temperature? I am not happy with the idea of the fans running all of the time.

something like this one?

Head to the local jobber, most every new car with an electric fan has one... Try a Ford Escape, or Chevy Cavalier , chances are the popular cars will be

in stock at any jobber.

I use relays for the fans and headlights, A lot cheaper to do your own than to buy a finished kit.

well there are none of us further than a couple hours at best - and my garage is always open, and the refreshments cold, or the coffee and tea, hot
Drop on by, make some new friends, and check out my iron - I have several pieces - the 700+ hp diesel pulling truck, the Merc, and the Chevelle

on the weekend got the exhaust finished up finally - just needs finished welding now that I am happy with the routing and the electric cutouts.

Also finished the clutch line, bled, ready to use.

Just need to finish the tilt front end now, and wire the headlights - and it will be ready for a front end alignment, and a safety

:)

well - she made her first trip out of the garage today, under her own power. Talk about stoked!!!

still a little more to do on the tilt front end, but it is drivable, saftied, insured.

Lovin the 65 YOM plates too

Nothing sounds like a blower and a gear drive cam together.

three steps forward - two back

windhsield washers were working, and now wont pump .. something is plugged

heater core decided to start leaking, and you dont just run out and buy one at the UAP

oh and the drivers header gasket started to leak on number 7

;o)

it gets worse - tonight the float stuck in one of the carbs and we didnt catch on till the oil pressure started to go away - motor is hurt... question now is - how badly

lots of shiney stuff in the oil filter ;o(

upside is the power reverse tilt front end works

Radir Tire and Wheel - from waaaaay back in the 60s , maker of the Radir rims, is the only supplier of 12" M&H repops... every one else like Coker, can only do 8's 9's or 10s

apparrently the engine Gods gave me a repreive.

New oil n filter, and the thing holds 45 psi cold at idle and about 25-26 hot. Runs right up to 50 psi with any kinda rpm.

So I have lost about 10 psi from the fuel washdown.

Still frustrating - had to remount the rad fans tight to the rad to get enough draw to keep from overheating - so my cool fan mounts have been ditched.
Took the centre out of the thermostat. Friggin housing didnt seal properly when re-installed - and its under the blower - and a pita to re and re.

BUT - its getting there. Might get in its first test drive tonight if it isnt raining.
