Warsaw Benefit Car Show
Permalink

Hi all

I am helping to organize this years Warsaw Benefit Car Show.

Each year the Lions club along with other agencies puts on a Car Show where all proceeds go to one needy family in the area.

Last year they raised almost $33,000.00 in 2.5 hours. It was simply amazing to watch everyone from all over, come out for this great event.

We had over 200 cars last year and it sure would be nice to beat that this year!

The family in need this year is the Cavanaghs. Randy who is 27 was struck down with advanced progressive MS in April of this year. He went from working, to needing a wheelchair most days, in the space of weeks. He will never work again. They have a 13 month old baby, and his wife is working 3 part time jobs trying to make ends meet.

So please tell your friends, and enemies smile and come on out for a fantastic cause.

If you cant come out, please make a donation, and if you know of companies or businesses that would like to donate money or a raffle prize, please send them to me.

The show is on the 15th of August, with a rain date of the 22nd of August.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to read this and hope to see you out!

My 65 Mercury Gasser will be making its debut at this show, so come on out and critique it and spend some money... lots of money

You could even win lots of money - the 50/50 draws at last years events were $480 , $895 and $1450 respectively for each of the winners, for each of the three draws

good food, nice cars, great company how can you beat it!

biggrin

Sky didn't look good in Ajax around 4 this afternoon so I decided to skip the show. My car doesn't mind the rain, I was just afraid that I would drive the 1 1/2 hrs to get there just to find out it poured rain and was cancelled. Hope you got a good turnout if the show did go on. The clouds blew over and the sky was clear later in the evening (in Ajax), but it was too late to go by then.

I went, and the weather was awesome !! Lots of people and lots of cars. Definitely not what I had expected.

It was for a great cause and hopefully lots of cash was generated for the family. I looked for Seeker's car, but it was nowhere to be found.

I actually don't have a clue as to what your car looks like, but was looking for a mid 60's Merc gasser. Oh well, I'm sure we'll meet up somewhere else. You couldn't have been that busy if you had time to see the GF !! Twice even !!

Edit; Well, Duh !! I googled "65 Merc m100", and it's a damn truck !! No wonder I didn't see it cause I was looking for a car !! I've never owned Fords/Mercs, but now I know what an m100 is. confuse

Too bad I missed the show. Wife and I drove the car to the family cottage near Perth earlier this year. Decided to head to Perth (from the cottage) on a Monday evening to get fishing licences and hit the local cruise night. Weather was a little "iffy" (light rain, then cleared up) that evening. We arrived at the cruise spot (roads dry and sun shining) and discovered we were the only car there. Didn't really matter as we needed the fishing licences anyways. In the case of Warsaw, I feared showing up to an empty lot after driving quite a distance, and having no other reason for being in the area.

Sounds like I made a bad call :(

Glad it turned out well.

Just a quick update on the benefit

Last night at the last cruise night of the year for Warsaw, the Cavanaghs were presented with a cheque in the amount of $42,465.00

Totally amazing for 3.5 hours at a SINGLE EVENT!!!!!

everyone was near speechless!

It is unbeleivable how this community, and car people pull together for a good cause,

This jus tgoes to show people still have heart to give when called upon

Thank you everyone who participated!!

OH, and there were just over 500 cars at the event! Some drove more than a few hours just to come! One couple all the way from Cornwall

Just goes to show you how much $$$ can be raised by us
"car people" for a good cause, now if the Gov. would see us in a diff. light, or be made aware of the donations made to the "NEEDY" maybe they would "back off" a bit????
