Had the privlage to run the hot-rod to various cruise nights and shows Thursday, Friday, Sat, Sunday. I use secondary roads and my god, the roads are TERRIBLE! I don't have much suspension with the straidhgt front axle, but man, do you notice the terrible shape of our roads.
Roads ranged from Marmora to Whitby.
I thought some of the fuel taxes was to keep roads in good repair.

However, and think about this - I work for municiapl govt, and the cost to resurface a road has tripled in the last 5 years.. and the "refined, new and improved tar/oil" we are being sold for Tar and Chip roads is only lasting 2-3 years instead of the 5-8 years it was before, because the suppliers are reducing the actual petroleum based components in it, trying to keep costs down and profits up. In my township we have some 200 km of road, and a budjet that will only allow for redoing about 20k per year unless you would like to see your property taxes tripled or so, in order to say, keep up with 60k or so of road per year. And unfortunately - the most travelled roads are getting the work, because they are more important than less used back roads Most municipalities have a 20 year cycle for road repairs, and needs studies are done every 5 years to make sure the most necessary repairs are gettign done My road for example isnt slated for any major work for another 7 years, although they do keep up with grading and calcium to keep the dust down
yup the roads are terrible, but as least terrible as we can keep up with
I just got back from a trip to Alberta and back......I found our roads not to bad compared to Manitoba and Saskatchewan...Of course, I was just mainly on the Trans Canada.....
I am not meaning back roads, but Kings hyway #2 and parts of Tuanton and other county roads that are well travelled. Need some higher rear gears so I can use the 401!!!

I just got back from Syracuse, and our roads are like glass compared to theirs. I-81 southbound felt like I was on a bucking horse !!The roads leading into the fairgrounds were some of the worst I've seen, and I'm sure other members here that went to Syracuse will understand exactly what I'm talking about.
Yep I 81 was much worse than it was a couple of years ago. Raised bumps in the road all the way across. Some bumps were bad enough in my 47 that it would pop the shifter out of gear. The 401 between Odessa and Napanee is the same. In the hot rod or on my bike those roads are hard on my back.

That's for sure. Using a 4 speed saggie. What could I bolt right in keeping my existing pressure plate-clutch and driveshaft? Don't really want to get another drive shaft made.

actually every municipality gets a chunk yearly... albiet not anywhere near as much as it would sound like it should be, given the amount of money taken in.
A childhood friend and his wife moved to Detroit several years ago. His wife is a manager at a large company. She wasn't at the companys Detroit office long before she got suspicious of people calling in with the "I'll be late today, I got another flat tire" ... turns out she wasn't being played/scammed, the roads out there are so bad it is extremely common for people to get flat tires.
My worst was in Sault Ste Marie about 6 years ago on their main road (Great Northern Rd) ... the clowns cut a 5" deep section out of the road yet didn't use a little extra slop to "ease the transition" with a small ramp ... destroyed the belts in both front tires.
