Searching for old cars & trucks to photograph
Permalink

Hey everyone, another thread reminded me of another hobby of mine. I'm an amateur photographer and I'm looking for some fresh subjects to shoot before the snow flies.

I especially like old rusted cars and trucks sitting abandoned in fields. If anyone here has some vintage, preferably weathered tin or knows the locations of some real gems (pre '70's) that I could photograph in Southern Ontario (say an within an hour radius from the K/W, Cambridge, Guelph area), please let me know! I'd like to practise my skills on some great subjects (does not have to be abandoned or weathered) If you want some photos of your car in a cool setting, I'd be willing to do it for free depending on location. (No guarantee on quality though, I'm still an amateur)

My stuff is here; http://frozenpixels.smugmug.com/ I really need more old cars, trucks and hot rods in my gallery. Car shows are great, but not the best for photography.

Bump - can anyone give me info on the wrecking yard I've heard of In Kendal Ont? I heard it might be full of rusty classics.

There's also supposed to be a farm near Barrie or Orillia with tons of 50's ford Pickups...anyone know more??

Thanks Wingedone, I've been there a few years ago but I wasnt too ripped about my shots there. Was tough to do what I wanted to do with that light, clutter and my level of experience then. The photo of the '53 (?) Semi truck is from that yard. The "big Job" emblem is off of that truck.

I'm am planning a return trip out there in the next couple of weeks. Shoot me a message if you want to go along.

Sweet looking dart BTW - I've seen you driving aroung town. Still got the buzzin-half-dozen in it?

Awesome - I like the fact that you're keeping the six in it.
It's the less typical cars and drivelines etc. that interest me nowdays
Like the 273, twin turbo powered, 1st generation Barracuda that I saw at Moparfest several years ago.

I was there a few years ago and it looked pretty full to me, though I don't know what it was like in the 80's-90's. I don't know if they still buy & sell anything anymore, not like there's anything usable on the classic stuff anyway, they are so far gone.

Will let you know Carta, though I'll likely go by chance if in the area

No worries - I went out there, but there was nobody home & vehicles parked across the laneway. I might try again this Friday afternoon if I can get away early

Many of the old wrecking yards are disappearing, now full of newer stuff, just a bunch of crappers waiting for the crusher.

Sad to walk through a wrecking yard and see a bunch of rotted out beat up caravans/aerostar vans.
