Yup, what Sniper said... it's quite easy just 4 nuts hold it in... Hardest part would be if it doesn't pop out easily and you have to use a puller or Grumpy's idea!

This might seem like a stupid question for some but how do I pull an axle out of a 9" Ford rear end? Is it a simple procedure?

Pull off the wheel and drum.

Take a look at the axle flange, along with the 5 studs, there will be a hole in the flange. This hole will line up with the 4 nuts/studs that are holding the whole works together. Remove the 4 nuts and give the axle a pull. If your lucky it will slide out, if your not, you will need a slide hammer to help it along. When it does come out, the small square shaped plate, seal, bearing and bearing retainer will stay with the axle as an assembly. The backing plate/brakes will stay with the rearend.

If You Don't Have A Slide Hammer The Poor Boy Way Is To Use A Chain.Put The End Link On One Of The Wheel Studs Replace Wheel Nut And Give The Chain A Good Whip(Sounds Crude But It Works. PS(Never Lost A Wheel Stud This Way).

If the axle is stuck you can bolt the wheel back on and hit the wheel from behind.

You could also mount a Mopar engine to it and twist the axles out !! Ha

One more way, I've put the B.Drum back on "backwards" with 2 or 3 lug nuts, leave some play & use the B/drum as a "slide hammer" Works for me!!!!!!
