I would recommend Reliable Transport, 1-877-744-7889 or 1-734-453-6677 they delivered an Anglia for me to Vancouver. Very professional and a nice enclosed car carrier.

i talked to Reliable yesturday, they said it would be at least 5-6 weeks before they get to it, the auto auctions out on the west coast are keeping them extremely busy.

You can always try UShip.com and then various shipping companies will bid on the load based on your specs as to pickup and delivery times and dates. Then you get to pick the shipper.

Works well.

I guess as long as you dont get any of those duffuses to do it you would be OK.....lol

I would think that you would want someone that has a proven record dealing with cross border car shipping. Is it possible for you to take the car across the border yourself and meet them or???

I used TFX to bring mine back from South Carolina......These guys were great no issues at all, they dealt with customs on both sides and paying the HST....they can walk you through the whole process...

Think it's a bit of a "different" ball game when it's going State Side. I know when I cross over to USA border guard always asks if car is being sold or left in the states?? BUT I have also heard people say it's a "PIECE" of cake & easier than coming this way?????

after placing an ad on USHIP and getting some stupid rates and responses, i was thinking i just don't want any red neck to transporting my car or looze my car, i think its best to go with a reputable company that specializes in this type of thing, with a proven track record and insurance, i want to thank everyone who had an idea or suggestion........

USHIP is sometimes a pain but when you actually talk to the shipper in most cases you can eliminate the idiots....and there are some. Shipping into the states can also be a pain but contact US Customs and they will tell what you need.....careful though because if you don't sell the car after going through the paper work you MUST go through even more paper work and ISSUES if you want to bring it back into Canada.....US Customs issues.

Try TFX, a friend of mine drives for them and he tells me some of the cool rides he has to move. Good equipment and that is all they do, expensive cars. Any trucking company could move it for you that runs Chicago, Milwaukee is an hour north.

When i sold a vehicle to a client in the U.S. i suggested he use Mackie's in Oshawa, absolutely no problems and the vehicle arrived in perfect shape. They dealt with everything and the Custom's Broker in the U.S. too. Most carriers will wait to have a full load, hence why they said 5-6 weeks for you likely.

I do not recomend Mackie's of Oshawa. Hired them to bring a car from California and dealt with one broken promise after another resulting in me taking them to Small Claims Court. They settled prior to the hearing .

yep its relisted on kijiji, the deal fell through, it took to long to get reasonible quotes from shippers and brokers, 3-4 thousand dollars to have it travel 600 miles was not at all workable for the buyer in wisconsin, now i have someone interested from iowa, just have to see how this buyer works out...

Just my opinion, I would leave the shipping to the buyer. I figure if a guy cant borrow/rent a trailer and come 600 miles, he isnt that interested

One other "problem" about selling to the US from Cda. is the transfer of Ownership [Title in US] I spoke to a up state New York classic car dealer who bought some cars at Toronto Auction a few yrs. ago, & he said "most states do not recognize a Cdn. title for transfer" He has had to send titles to Florida & Arizona to be "laundered" into a New York Title, a PITA!!! I know of a few people here that have sold cars in the states when over there, just took the plates off, & got a ride home from car show with a pocket full of cash!!!& let new owner worry about the paper work!! BUT that "sold car" will always be "on the books" here in Ont. as being "owned" by them, as it never gets transfered out of their name!!!! I don't know if you notified DOT that it went out of Prov. that would do it, or "dump" you from the POT into the FIRE????

I sold my 62 Pontiac a few years ago....A guy from Michigan bought it, came to my house to get it.....I gave him the signed ownership, took off the plates and off he went. I never heard any more about it. My renewal came for my other vehicles and it wasnt listed, so I figure its off Ontarios books......I did see it a year later on eBay, so I figure they got the title thing in order.

1 loop hole with my 49 anglia was the fact, it was built in england originally so the U S consider it a import and it was subject to an additional sur charge a much higher percentage of the appraised value of it, if it was completely original with a 4cyl flathead they would have waived the fees, i was asked by the border patrol if it was modified at all, i told them just abit lol

I just took a 2001 Ford to Michigan. The guy I sold it to actually switched the wheel dolly to his truck on the Canadian side. I provided ownership, signed by me, MTO $20 package showing clear of liens, Bill of sale, from me to him. He took it into Michigan. No problems. He told me that if I would have provided an Ontario Drive Clean test result The U.S. Gov. would have changed the ownership to his name at the border. Then he would have been accurately titled immediately. But not a problem.
