Good score man .We enjoyed watching that car run at Shannonville and when I saw it come up for sale I had one of those "if I sell this and that maybe---" thoughts .Anyway maybe we will get to see it run at the Picton Armdrop this year.I hope so its a cool ride for sure. Ed
John...i am going to put a small block in it,,,something around 350/400 horse,,nothing to fancy and just have fun with it...i do want to do a few things to make it a little safer to...with the track opening here,it will probably get run quite often.
Larry, have you been out there lately to check on the progress of the new drag strip?
I was there last weekend, tons of stuff yet to do, not paved, parking areas not finished, i'm not sure, but don't think there is even any power run into it yet unless it is all buried. Looks to me like it could be only 1/2 finished. Lots to do if they think they'll have it open by 2013 spring time.
was out there 1 1/2 weeks ago....half the concrete is down...other half was supposed to be down last week...i heard they started the paving now,,,Roger says we should be running down it the middle of the month...but i figure more like the end of the month is more like it...it's looking real good out there.Power is there,,it's buried according to him...i'm going out again next week to see if they made any progress. Roger came by tuesday to fill me in...he is getting pretty excited

Larry--It would be cool to start a thread and document the strip being built. I'm always excited to hear of a dragstrip being built when so many are disappearing. Be cool if they put together a nostalgia event big enough to make the trip worthwhile. I know Arnie(Luskville) used to pay a few of the serious gasser cars to put on a gasser shootout and then build a nostalgia event around that. It worked out pretty good.
John..if you go on facebook and search King of the North dragway, it will give you the lowdown...final paving is to be done today i believe...we will be up and running in no time now....been a long time waiting for this...I have talked to Roger about running the nostalgic cars and he seemed more than willing to do it...there are only a few in this neighbourhood,,he agrees people love watching the old cars run, so all i can suggest for now is that some of you guys make an appearance when we are up and running...it is only 1/8th mile if you didn't know already.
Fiats coming along nicely now, won't be long before i take it out of the shop under it's own power..scored some nice old keystones for the front.some new rims/slicks for the back...finally got to use the fenderwell headers i have had lying around...
Great looking car Larry, brings back a lot of memories with that body style!!
Have you still got your'e Chevy2 ?
Ray, still have the Chevy 2,taking it down to St.Thomas thanksgiving weekend to run it ..won't be going anywhere till i get put into the ground,,,Finally finished the Fiat,,,i think it's a car for a young person...climbing in and out of that thing through the roof is getting harder and harder..just messing around with it up and down the driveway tells me its going to be a handful to drive,,,right now it fries the slicks and wants to go sideways..wonder how it will go when and if it hooks up at the track

Some good looking workmanship there! Re: A young guys car,(getting in and out), Ha ha, Heck even the newer cars are a chore to get out of! Too darned low. Re: wants to go sideways,, Cars like that draw crowds, spectators enjoy that stuff, although it is better to just go straight,, Remember "The Winged Express", Willy had difficulty at times controlling that beast, at times i'm sure he scared himself, the thing seemed unpredictable, but the crowds loved that.
I must have missed this thread when it 1st. came out. Had no knowlege of a drag strip being built up north!!! Like someone else said, good to see one going in,not being closed up!!! There was 'talk' of one going in a Mossport, but I think it went 'down the tube' with the new neighbours complaining about the noise from the stock car track on Sat. nights & now the cars have "mufflers" on them!! Same old same old, track was there before houses built, but the people move in then complain about the noise, "Did you not see the track there or do some investigation before you bought it" DUH!!!!!! Hope this works out up there. Hows the hotel situation there if we wanted to come up wknd. of racing?????& how far the track from town???

I can only please one person a day, Today is not your day!!Tomorrow doesn't look good either !!!!
Pete, the new track is just outside a little "Burg" named Bonfield,,, and that is east of North bay by about 10 miles just off Hwy#17 East.
The motel situation i,m not 100% sure of as there was only one there on Hwy17 for years, but if this track goes over big, i,m sure an addition will go on the present one or possibly a new one will be built. Other than that the closest right now is North Bay .
The track is going to have a new campground also.
I talked to the project manager of the track, and he is supposed to come on this site and give everyone an update of what will be available etc.
SWEET lookin ride. If its ever too much of a hassle to get in out out of im sure there are other people here who are young and crazy enough to want to take it down the strip *Wink wink nudge nudge* But on another note, hows the rear end set up? could be an older style set up thats worth upgrading for saftey?
The rearend is a solid mount...the only give is the air in the slicks...it wasnt built for comfort thats for sure...its safe i am sure of that...get in line, i got a list of people telling me they would love to make a pass down the track in it..if you ever do make it to the track here, feel free to drop by and slap the helmet on..
