Hagerty added the $40 fee to everyones policy, old or new, guess its to pay for that imaginary guy that looks for those rare parts??

Dan, waste of time telling them how you feel, they don't care.

Ya thats for the appraisal cost of the not needing an Appraisal. Their huge advertizement was wonderful for my business. Kind of funny how I charge $150.00 for an appraisal that is valid for 4 years for a guarantee that your car will be worth the value I state. Hagerty charges 40$ a year to come up with an agreed value that when it goes to court they can state that your cars market value is much less and if they wanted the agreed value the customer would have secured a Licensed Independent Appraisal.

I wont need to. I'm sure all the people that got screwed by Lant will let them know. As far as the kissing booth, if I know you'll be there I'll make sure I wear track pants for easy removal. LOL biggrinbiggrin

The keyword  is court ..... After they waste a year to a year and a half of your time if your lucky they Annie up the amount they should have in the first place . Logic is most will cave before it gets that far. You got to hand it to Hagerty though. Seems they are proactive swindler's. Hopefully they send their adjusters to a how to lie like your job depends on it course. because they are pathetic.

I've been seeing a lot of chatter again on the forums regarding collector car insurance lately. I'm with Lant, have been since 1988, still paying about $10-$11 per thousand on my 62 Cutlass and have 30K building coverage on Dog Spit for a total of $386 a year. I just talked to Lant regarding use and was told pleasure use, not for daily shopping or work. I can take it to the US, I can travel to BC if I want, |I can go on vacation if there is potential for attending a cruise etc. When I joined Lant in 1988, my fee was about $68, about 6 months later, my windshield got broken and it was necessary to bring one in from California. The bill totalled $1500 which they paid, no questions asked. It took them a long time to recoup that money. Lant is a big supporter of the classic/hot rod culture in this country and have been for along time. Lant is owned by Aviva, a Canadian company, not Hagerty. Their relationship with Hagerty is an agreement so they can offer Hagerty's road side assistance. Many of my friends have jumped to other companies for reduced rates only to have that company disappear shortly thereafter. I just don't like to see a good company's name slandered, I'm sure others feel the same about their insurer.

My rate with Vintage is $390 / year. I used to be with Wetter& Oakland also paying $390/ year until Lant took them over. Lant wanted over 900/ year when my renewal came up. I say Fuk Lant, and hope their greed puts them out of business.

Ok so I just found out that CAA now has a policy for classics and you don't need an apraisal. I don't know who is doing the underwriting I just insured my daily driver with them switched from T.D and saved $480.00 dollars per year and even more coverage. If anyone has switched To CAA let us know

Warren Said..

Being told something is not anything you can take to court.. It should very clearly stated on the policy ..That's all you got for a contract when you get to court..what he said means squat..

I want it in writing on my policy ..I find it weird that those azzhole's are always sticking it to us when I have hardly ever heard of anybody making a claim.. Do they think we drive different in our street rod than we do in the family ride..their logic makes no sense to me..I believe it just because it's a hobby they like to rape us..All insurance companys are arzhole's  .. I think siler wheels and Haggerty are as bad or worse than my Everyday driver ins..Co

Not sure who you addressed that to, but I don't think you would be praising ANY insurance company if your rates went up 250% now would you?hmm

If he is happy where he is ..in his little place ..with his Lant policy his smartmouth doesn't bother me...I had one of those special Vintage policys.. I know how they work.  read the fine print..in the policy..I am happy with the coverage I have ..and it ain't lant or haggerty or silver wheels..they have a good policy as long as you don't  drive ...imo..but hey if it works for him ..I would not try to change his opinion..what ever lights his dash..I can go shopping, anytime, drive to work,to the dentist, and drive the hell outa my car anytime anywhere...$537.. a year that was the renewal for this year..I am much more satisfied with the coverage I have over the never drive special interest coverage insurers ..or is that too negative for you....

I have Aviva with Zehrs. 1/3 of Lant renewal price. Limitations I can live with .The appraisal every 10 years is no problem. Proves what is on the car. Never Lant. In my opinion he has overcharged from day one.

I just re - insured with Co-operators ( VERY Canadian ) . My general insurance ( home ) and my daily drivers were already with them . My '51 Fleetline ( appraised at 25 K & '70 Gmc @ 15K ) came in at the same price as Lant , plus , it is now insured as a regular car , not a collector , but at the agreed value . My main reason for changing over -- " Flag-Waver's Disease " -- I am wall-to-wall CANADIAN and I am not comfortable being insured by an American Co . -- DON / fleet 51
