This talk of the UHaul trailer got me to thinking about who has their own car trailers etc.....So, show em here
Heres mine. I built it out of an old house trailer frame that was given to me, has 3500# axles, electric brakes and is now quite solid with some beefing up I did...Built mainly as a landscape trailer but I did have my daughters minivan on it when it broke down..Works good
Here is a hydraulic tilt and load I built with a 4000lb winch. 18 ft long 6 degree tilt. Battery and pump in load box in front. Electric brakes with seperation switch.
Goes down the road great...real easy to tow and load.
Took about 42 hours to build at about $2500 cost....(to replace the other one I built that was stolen) Bastards!
This one has lojack.......
By the way.... the car on the trailer is the same one on my avatar.

This trailer started life as a single axle 5X10 I built about 8 years ago. It's now 5 X 17. I would love to purchase an enclosed trailer, but refuse to get both the trailer and and my truck certified every year for the yellow sticker. I may build one though to skirt the law.

Hey Dan, ever weigh that out loaded & on your truck??? You "might" be over the 4500KG But I hear ya man I've never had mine stickered either, & heard that if you sticker the tow vehicle 'EVERY" trailer you hook onto has to have a sticker too, even a utility, or snowmobile etc. Another Mc Goofy cash cow!!!

Absolutely !! My truck with 2 people, trailer and both buggys, and all our gear weighs in at 8900 lbs. If it was store bought trailer I would need the yellow sticker because the trailer will have a GVWR. Since it's a homebuilt, they will go by actual weight.
You're correct about having to have every trailer yellow stickered if the tow vehicle is yellow stickered.
This is our '93 Dodge Ram workhorse. Cummins Turbo Diesel runs like a clock...530,000+km and still going. Custom paint and one off faux stainless grill. Usually has a cap on it...tho it looks better without one. Axles on the tilt-n-load slide forward and back during loading and to balance the tongue weight.

invision - where do i buy a trailer like yours? thanks
Hey Seeker, my Dad picked that one up from a local guy... if i can recall correctly the mfg. tag said Alberta.. We found it was a bit too large for what we needed and was sitting around a lot ... so a while ago he sold it. It was great to load vehicles ... even if they weren't rollers. Just tilt and drag them up.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Who needs those lil' yellow stickers .... or tie downs for that matter. It's not illegal...unless one gets caught, and gravity will hold the equipment in place... right?
The only place this load was going was into the Smart Shopper...it made a great photo!

My 24' Wells Cargo Auto Hauler. Best thing about this bad boy is that it is not full height (5' backdoor) and has a bubble front wind break. It tows with my Chev 1500 (305ci) like a dream. I tried to tow a regular sized 24' trailer with a flat front once and my truck almost died. My 69 fits in nicely with room front and back however you have to bend your head just a bit when inside. The double drivers side door opening is also a huge benefit when getting in and out of the car. I have loaded the Harley in a few times and used it for camping/riding weekends as well. Throw a single mattress in the back and a few coolers of beer and good to go.
Since we now have "little" trailers on this thread, here's one I built a year after finishing my car. I've since sold it because my Son got too big, and we can't fit in it anymore when we used to go to the car shows.

Bought this a year ago for about $2500.00. I needed to borrow one to go pick up a small Cocshutt tractor in Nova Scotia. The "borrowed" deal fell through at the last minute so I bit the bullett and snapped this up. I can't believe how much I use it. Its got hydraulic surge brakes on both 3500lb axles. Its in great shape.
The two pipes on the end are 3" ABS on quick release pins. I put them there so that I always know where the rear of the trailer is at all times at a glance. Really helpful in backing up. I should patten the idea!

Nice trailer. You have way too much talent.

Hemi, this is a beautiful teardrop. got any pics of the galley? This is what the wife and I want to go to once we're done with our pop-up and once the kids are off to school or own families. The outdoor kitchen is the only way to go IMO
Can I ask what it weighs? What about total build cost...did you calculate the final expense?

It ended up fairly heavy @1100lbs, and cost around $3500 to build. I'll try and dig up some galley pics and will post them. There was no kitchen in the back, because this was used only to go to car shows, specifically Syracuse and Good Guys in Ohio. It was air conditioned though !!
Here's a few pictures of the back, but I'm surprised I don't have better ones. The storage area in the back where the air inlets are located had covers that are not shown. The only picture I could find was when the trailer was not yet finished.
