Shots of the ramps I built

Some one here or at the Cdn. Poncho site asked to see how I made the "Poor man's Hoist" so I took some pics. before I put the 52 up on them. Made out of 2x12's braced underneath every 24" Ramps are built the same 5' long with 1' of flat on top, easy to drive up on & detachable. Frt. cross bar has notches in it for diff. width's & drops onto lag bolts on frt. of ramp, also keeps them from spreading if floor not level & ramp pivots on high spot. Made a small 'dolly" to roll them around by myself. Great for working undr car or truck & the right height for pulling a transmission etc. added one pic. for you guys that have a " messy" shop!! Just so you can remember what the floor is 'supposed to look like"   OK call me "ANAL"Picture 079.jpgPicture 080.jpgPicture 081.jpgPicture 082.jpgPicture 083.jpgPicture 084.jpgPicture 075.jpg

Nice ramps. Are you going to put a winch at the front to pull a car up the ramp? I know just getting a car over my hoist floor plate is a pain in the back.

I've only had to winch a car up once. I bolted the winch to workbench!! Tried it hooked to the ramps but would have had to have the frt. wheels up against the ramp to stop everything from sliding towards the car!!!

you should modified the ramp design a little so you can remove the section between the wheels after the car is on the ramps

Ya, I thought about that later but once the ramps are off it's not that much trouble to roll the creeper from each end!! + with my bad memory, I'd likely forget to put the section back in when backing off it!!!!!

Nothing wrong with those! I'd love to have a hoist, but will likely never have the space for it. I'd only have one if I had a 3 bay shop or larger

Somewhere on the net are pictures of a guy with a Corvette that built a similar set of ramps. He added lights to the inside of the ramps to light up the area under the car. Stores jugs of oil and filters in one of the 'bays' of the ramps too.

Try this link http://corvettec3.ca/ramps.htm the red and white set were the ones I was thinking about. Much the same style as Pete had posted originally.

Tried using the little arrow looking do-hickies <  >  before and after the link but it won't highlight it and make it active. In fact three different tries and still no go...god I hate computers.
