This has probably come up before but where is a good place in the GTA to have wheels re-chromed? Also is  it cheaper to re-chrome previously chromed wheels or powder coated wheels? Both are aluminum.

Thanks

If you tried to re-chrome wheels, you would have a coronary !! Powder coating is probably 1/10 th the price.
Why not do it yourself? For the cost of getting it done you could purchase a gun and powder, then you'll have a powdercoat gun. Find an old kitchen stove and you're off to the races.

sorry I might not have been clear. I'm looking for a shop to re-chrome a set of wheels. I have a chrome set and a powder coated set that I can use. Which one would be cheaper to have the chroming done on. I'm thinking it would be easier to prep the set that is currently powder coated and therefore, be cheaper.

Cambridge Chrome just did a bunch of stuff for one of my vintage stove restorations,it was really expensive but the guy was upfont and explaned the costs and what was going on.They came in at the price quoted and on time which was important .Give them a call and they should answer your questions. I used Cambridge Chrome years ago for my Belair. Awesome job. About 4 or 5 years ago I thought I'd try a place in London (pm me and I'll be only too glad to tell you who) and they were CRAP. I wouldn't let them chrome a friggin toaster! They ruined two bumbers. I had them re-do them. You could see the grinder marks. They were not pleased having to redo them. I picked them up a second time and unwrapped them on the spot...wiped off the heaping of wax they smear on them...and blew a gasket! Awful job. Scrathes, waves, bumps. $hit! I asked for my money back. They said no. In fact, they handed the pot metal back to me that they were going to do and told me not to come back!! I couldn't believe it. This is a small world and bad news travels fast.

I've since gone back to Cambridge and will never stray again. They back up their quality 100% and their prices are no more than anyone else.

I don't know what an O-R guru is but it is only slander if it's not true.

"Ontario Rodder" guru. I believe the curator has an obligation to keep things on the up-and-up. Could be wrong. The place rhymes with midway. Ooops...it is Midway.

Gulp! $400 to $600 per wheel. I have to email them a picture but after hearing that, I'm looking at other options.

I figured the price would be insane. I (just me personally) prefer a polished aluminum wheel, plenty of sparkle and relatively easy to repolish when needed. I find that coatings tend to flake or peel over time (although some will claim that constant care will eliminate that from happening).

Get out the Summit Catalogue they have some pretty well priced wheels in there, & I couldn't touch the price up here on my Cragars S/S or the Torque Thrust D's was worth the trip down there, have a night away & get some good deals & still end up saving some $$$$

Ya new prowler wheels just aren't available so re-chroming is the answer.

But I do buy a lot of stuff from the US. I have it shipped to a company in NF NY called CBI. They will receive your package and only charge a small fee. So for a short 1 1/2 hour drive and a bit of time at the border, I can get the better US deals and don't even have to stay overnight. Also get some cheap gas while I'm at it.
