Is it just too cliche to want a Mustang?

Will I be ridiculed for wanting a classic Mustang? I just love the look of the 65/66 coupe or fastback.

The prices seem to be rising by the hour, so if I want one I think I'm running out of time.

Nice red Coupe on Kijiji..

NOPE not at all!!! Dave,I've been looking at a old english magazine I got yrs ago in the UK similar to Auto Trader. The prices in there are a shock for over here[ even yrs ago] so I don't think your going to have a "heart a stroke" here. Also have one from Austrailia that friends left here in Sept. & that would cause Heart failure!!!

I was asking $11,500, price has now been dropped to $9700 for quick sale.  LOW-BALLERS WILL BE IGNORED so don't waste your time or mine. Thanks

IF THE ADD IS STILL UP, THEN THE CAR IS STILL AVAILABLE.
I WILL REMOVE ADD WHEN IT IS SOLD.

I was going to sugest one for your wife in the other thread.

I did some work on a couple of '70 mustangs this summer. My first real hands on experience with them. I was impressed with the way some of the mechanicals are done on them. The ability to effortlessly change rear main seals, compared to most Chevy's that I'm used to. Also I liked the interior and sitting possition very much.

I'd have one on my list.

It's only cliche if you buy it to say you have a "mustang". You know the type...like the guy who buys a corvette, mustsng etc and doesn't know how to check the oil... Buy whatever makes your pulse go. If you like it then go for it. Looks pretty sharp to me

I have always loved the fastback Mustangs from 65-69.

Dave, you may want to consider looking south of the border when you get here. Areas like Ohio that have been hard hit by the US economy can often offer up some great deals and better quality vehicles. Took me about 30 seconds to find the ad below. Importing it back to Canada only requires a little paperwork and a bit of planning. Also the strong Canadian Dollar works in your favor as well. Good Luck in your hunt.

Nah, it has to be the 65/66. Don't like many after that, and I positively hate the new Eleanor from gone in 60.

So it's not about saying I have one

Not so sure that is true. Do not rush!!!. The right car at the right price will be available when you are ready. Take your time and plan your ride. If you hurry the process it will cost you more in the long run IMO. I will also advise that when you get here check out/join a Mustang car club or find someone here with knowledge of North American Fords/Mustangs that is willing to go with you or advise you to help spot potential problems areas with Mustangs that you may not know about yet.  Club members often know about vehicles that are for sale or about to become available before the general public.

Don't rush into a Mustang, they are a dime a dozen. I see it all to often over at a friend of mines Mustang shop. People buy cars they know nothing about and pay way too much for them. There are a lot of them out there still.
All my friends have Mustangs, I refuse to be assimilated.

Nothing wrong with Mustang ,,,. My brother bought his 65 coupe 30 years ago out of the US. Stock 289 with factory air and rust free. very nice car. Don't think he has even had it on the road the past 10 years.,,just sits in the shop,,,gets dusted now and and again. Maybe he's hangin' on to it for when he's too old and decrepit to ride his motorcycle..

I might be biased, but yes, good summer car for reasonably cheap.

Don't drive a classic in the winter though. Don't drive any vehicle you care about from November-April.
