Henry go to the Ktownracescene web site. that is where the guys from Kingston ,Bellville and eastern Ontario hang out .It is also the home of Armdropdracing so if there are any pictures around these guys will have them or know where you can find them. They are a good group of guys who run at Shannonville regularly.  carl, i have to ask. how do you know scoudouc, nb? were not talking a metropolitan area here. curious, thats all. and if you know the area you will know where the church is with a cemetary across the road. the predominate name in that cemetary is Melanson. the 50 ford in my avatar came from one of my oldest, dearest friends who i buried in that cemetary. we drove trucks together in the 60-70's and a bunch of us lived in a big house in mississauga. he brought the truck up here in the 70's and i still have the first ontario ownership for it.  jeez, small world. like i said in my intro thread, a friend of of a friend, of a friend thing going on here. he lived in memramcok when when he passed. the deal was, i paid for his funeral and he gave me the truck. truthfully i wish he was still here with his truck. man, the bunch of us had some grinnnn's.

this is telling tale's out of school but, when we set the stone on the pedestal i put a couple of j's under it for him. the truck won numerous awards down in that area, memramcook, moncton, etc. when i got it home it won people's choice at deseronto strip first time out. a couple of more since. he'd be grinnnin.

small world people. sorry for my rambling on but you have to realize the area.

p.s.: the lady in the pic is my ole lady who was a good friend of his also.

On the cover of the January 7, 2013 issue of Old Autos is a photo of Keith Faulkner's Oldsmobile Toronado from Brighton, On.. Is this the same guy that had a T bucket in 1968 in the Greater Quinte area? His mother was one of my teacher's at Ameliasburgh Public School. Anybody Know anything?

I see Owen Bosma still plays with cars, he worked at Patterson Motors in '68. When the Chrysler Super Car Clinics ran at Ply/Do dealers. I went to school with his brother Bob.

I realize this is a huge thread revival but I figured I would just post here as apposed to starting a new thread. I was wondering if anybody has any pictures from Shannonville Drags from the early to mid 90's. I remember going there as a kid with my Dad to help out his buddy who raced there. We barely took any pictures which is a shame as it would bring back a lot of memories. I asked on the Ktownracescene forum as well and also inquired about pictures from the Street drags they used to do in Sunbury just outside Kingston but I guess that they were done mostly at night. My Dad tells me lots of stories about him and his buddies running out there.

Ameliasburgh Public School? I live almost next door to that.
yes I have pics from Shannonville. Beazer has lots from Mohawk and they were on CD. So do the Cooney brothers at Cooney Motors Belleville. I also have some from the last runs at Mohawk in the 70s. Cant find that album tonite. I will ask Mrs D in the morning. There was a fellow Mike Donavan aka Klick Klick who took a lot of photos around Ontario tracks in the 60s. I used to know him. He would have thousands and was very good at it. He was often with Dave Benn and Golka with the Gentle Benn car. Last I heard he lived in Kingston. When I knew him he lived in Trenton. In fact the only photo Vern and I have of our K/S 67 Rambler American effort (D&C Performance) back in the late 1960s was taken by him at Cayuga. If anyone knows him today he would have thousands of good colour photos from back in the day.

I have a couple pics from 1969 when I ran there in R/S with a 1957 Pontiac convertible running 16.4's. Funny it felt quick at the time for 6 cylinder in a heavy car. May take a few weeks to find them as I'm in the middle a engine replacement in my DD. Hope I remember........

Turboed slant six altered owned by Stu Denyes when it debuted at Cayuga. This old car has had more wins then most realize. Chris Cleavers 383 Mopar altered is what this car morphed into and last I heard was still being campaigned some 40+ years stus altered cayuga.jpg later.

I love the old drag pictures... Sometimes I think I wish I could go back in time so I could participate, especially the old street drags. Thanks for taking the time to scan and post.

You can go back and participate. Whip something fun and safe up and come to Picton sept 20. Don't worry about making it a world beater. Get it up and running first. Picton couldn't be more like back in the day . As for pics ,I have some from Shannonville in the early days however that is the 1990s. I will dig them out some rainy afternoon.

The slant six turboed car is one I would like to duplicate again. The car was originally mine and built to run a "done" 392 hemi. When I got married I sold everything. Why I have no idea as my wife didn't ever suggest it. Stu bought the car from Harry Wilson and finished it. He asked me to supply a power plant and we would partner for a year or so. I had a 170 slant six engine and trans and a Corvair spyder turbo. I married the two and he installed it. It worked real good but today with a lot more experience under my belt I think I could redo it and make it frightening. We only ran enuf boost to eliminate a neg manifold pressure. Now I would try for 20 to 28 lbs and use the 225 instead of the 170.(or a 198 if I could ever find one) Power would be right up there with the Buicks I think . Both are 225 cubes. In fact if one could find an early carbed Buick GN set up (Qjet/Turbo assembly)and adapt it to the slant six it would be fun and cheap and quick. Probably would surprise one what it would do.

I have a 69 Mustang that I could run. It has a pretty stout 351 in it that I just put together. My only issue is driving from Brockville. If I break something I would have no way to get home. I may look into renting a uhaul car trailer.

Sounds great. Perhaps someone with a trailer would appreciate a day away and a free spectator pass as well of course a gallon or so of French fries. If you come stop by my pit and intro yerself.
don

PS Some have been showing up with 5 or 6 race cars on car carriers hauled by a single axle highway tractor. Most cool way to go racing I think.

Buy some CAA we have broke something a couple of time and CAA always gets us home . Don't let the fear of breaking something stop you from having more fun than you could imagine. This event is worth whatever it takes to get there. Ed
