I purchased this one about 6 months ago. Straight from China (anything you buy is made there any way)

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1600LM-Lumens-CREE-XML-XM-L-T6-LED-5-Mode-Focusing-Zoomable-Flas-/230818439073?pt=US_Flashlights&hash=item35bdd9dfa1

Buddy at work bought the same one of the MAC tools truck cost him about 3 times as much.

It works awesome.

Ok all you tech savvy dudes... I need a new flashlight. Any suggestions on a rock solid, super bright LED flashlight that is small to medium size AND has respectable projection? Getting tired of these old maglites which were never that good and these cheap led units that are useless past 10 feet. Rechargeable would be a plus.

Not sure if i would recommend them, but son has two in his shop that get used lots, and got them on sale at "Crappy Tire.)

(Wouldn't doubt they all come out of the same plant.) Lol

Best I've seen. BAYCO SR-2166.  60 led, 120 lumens, rechargable. Built in magnets. Works awesome.

Local NAPA has them. ~$60

Thanks, I'll look into those. I was mainly looking for a conventional style flashlight for everyday use (outdoor/camping/house) but the ones that are also a work light look pretty handy too

COSTCO has/had a 3 pack of TechLite Lumen Master 200 for $28. They are nice and bright and throw a pretty good beam. AAA batteries.

I think Snap-on has really sullied their rep with this crap they're selling at costco and what not. I bought one of their retractable work light reels and it broke internally after a few uses. Same with their shop stool .....POS. JMO

CTC work light was on special for 9.99 a while back pretty happy with it.

or Maglite does make LED versions. A bit spendy but excellent quality as usual and VERY long distance beam with long life.

You get what you pay for !! You wont find a good LED flashlight at CTC.
If you want something of quality, go to "Sail" in Oshawa. It's an outdoor store and they have quite a few brands.
What to look for is a flashlight using a "Cree" diode.

I ended up getting a cool led flashlight from a sales rep. It has one LED light that is super bright - wonder if its one of these "cree diodes" Projection isn't great but its plenty bright for what I need...best of all, it was free :)

Cree diodes are square, and they only use one.

These are a little expensive, but worth it (I think) They stand up really well.  I use mine every day. Keep one in every vehicle.

Ridiculously bright little flashlights.
