So far...I guess this is only happening in the USA...don't know if it will happen here. Be careful if you are going across the border.
Watch this video from Fox Business...if your CAR IS OLDER THAN 2012 you need to AVOID THE NEW E15 GAS that is just starting to show up at gas stations.
Most car companies will not honor the warranty on your car if you use this new gas. Beware if you go to U.S. and gas up.
I havnt read into it but it seems it can be very good for performance but you must burn far more of it, reading peoples build threads using E85 and like 1300 cc injectors versus those on regular 91 with like 650cc injectors.
I should probably look into it.
I also went with 850cc that max out at 1150 so I could go either way if it became available here.

Good post Oldkoot !! I guess 2013 is the year that the Feds decided to sell this crap fuel to the masses. I've known for quite a few years that this stuff was going to be available, but never really paid attention to it. I always wondered why GM and ford have been selling "flex fuel" vehicles for almost 5 years, even though the fuel was not available. I guess it makes sense!! Flood the market with cars and trucks for a few years that are compatible with E-15, THEN bring out the fuel. We are having issues NOW with 10% ethanol in our old cars and small engines, I couldn't imagine 85% !! I hope this crap fuel doesn't become the only thing we'll be able to buy in the near future.
If this happens, then it's the way the Gov. will get "ALL' the older cars off the road for GOOD!! Force us to buy "new' cars, lawn equipment etc & making a killing on all the sales tax!!!

No, it just means we will have to adapt just like we did when leaded gas was no longer available.
I have a QFT carb here that's set up for E85( 4150 style), basically different float material, needle is SS, gaskets are coated, everything inside where ethanol can come in contact with has a green coating, no raw metal. Throttle shaft and blades are SS. Other than different jets and air bleeds, much larger than a gas carb, everything is pretty much the same. My guess would be you'd need a steel gas tank that's been coated to resist the effects of the ethanol, SS fuel lines, special fuel pump-mechanical or electric and a replacement for any rubber lines. It will take more than Ethanol to kick us to the curb.

thats the ticket.

There are 106 miles to Chicago. We have a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.
Shell V-Power is straight gas, only one in Canada, although talk to the owner/operator of the one you go to, because the place I go to said if you are an independent then you can put straight gas in, but if you are a franchisee then it can contain corn.
Gas station on the Indian reserve on Scugog island [near Port Perry] is all Ethanol "free" gas & way below the price of local stations. My Suburban "jumped" up close to 4 MPG on this, Hwy. miles worked out to 24MPG!!!!!

So, It costs more to produce, you get less power & mileage, you have to buy more & pay the Gov. more tax because you can't get the mileage, & the price of food has gone up due to the corn being used for fuel!!! Why in "HELL" would you keep buying the "CRAP" when you can buy "non ethanol" fuel?????

Well I also think it has something to do with the farmers too. Kind of a subsity they have to work for. But there are also spin offs for the local economy as well. And the corn is grown right here in Canada eh!!
All public perception that they're spewing, that ethanol fuels are good for the envirornment. They don't mention it's efficiency, it's trickle down effect on the food/feed industry, or what it is going to cost us.
I was at a party near here a couple of years ago and this woman was all proud that she had bought a "green" vehicle. A new Oshawa built Impala that runs on E85. (At the time the closest E85 was in London.)
She then went on to explain to everyone listening how it takes regular gasoline and converts it to E85, "which is a renewable resource", and has far less toxic emmissions that a "gasoline only" vehicle, and gets much better mileage. I asked her what the E85 stands for. "It's the fuel that the car produces" was her answer. I simply told her that she needs to do a little research on that.
There is a very small percentage of people that understand cars and how they work. Less that understand that this ethanol thing is going to cost us alot of money.

Reminds me of a former neighbour who was absolutely amazed that "steam cars ran on water" ... then proceeded to say "can you imagine that, just pull up to a creek and fill her up". There are two sad parts to my tale ... one is that this guy was not kidding and the other is he actually owns a couple of old cars. He took one of those cars out to a show out in Whitby several years ago ... then turned around and headed for home (all pissed off) when he was told to park it on grass ... seems his car is too valuable to risk being damaged from parking on grass. I told him to sell the car because clearly he was not getting any enjoyment out of it ... he didn't like that.
