Swapping car insurance between cars?

I swap 2 of mine throughout the year and it saves me about $800.
My wifes Beetle Convertible sleeps beside my truck in the winter in a heated 2 car garage. The Montana van is only off the road when my daughter's at University or my wife is driving her "V@gin@ on Wheels" (it is a a Girly car). You save money by suspending the collision on the car/van when not in use but they're still covered by fire and theft. The only issue is, the suspension must be at least 45 days long or more (indeffinitely even!).

My truck has a separate policy for SKIRTED "Hot Rods"! $140/yr.

I'm trying to figure out how you guys insure all your cars.

Do you need seperate policies for each car, or could you maybe run a summer car, then swap the insurance over to your winter car when the weather turns nasty?

I don't think you can do that with all insurance comp. My classic cars [2] ins. has to stay on yr. round so no "tinkering " there!! They won't issue anything but a 12 mth. policy, & for "FULL" coverage only!!! I've never tried to switch daily driver between vehicles. I have 2 policy's on the classic's, 1 for the 64 & other for the 52. I can drive either one thru the season

i remove the liabilty from the buick when i put it away but it still has fire and theft on it, theres no limit im aware of with my insurer as far as time goes.  i do know you can only have fire and theft on a vehicle for a year and they cancel the policy.  as well i insure my buick as a normal car, this way i dont risk breaking the old car insurance rules, some are pretty strict and no matter what you might be told, if i smash up my car at 2pm on a thursday while im at work, i wont be covered.

I take one car off my policy for winter and switch it to my winter car and then back, they keep both on file so its just a quick phone call, the one not being driven sits uninsured in the garage.

They just say your monthly rate changes however much and get you to agree to how you use the car still ect.
