Hmmmm.. Very cool, but I'm a bit sceptical !! I'm no oil expert, but just checking one parameter (capacitance) IMO is not enough to claim the oil is still good or not. There's just too many variables.. We'll have to wait for experts to give their opinion on it after it's been out on market for a while. If it works, I would be the first to buy it !!
IMO the only way to increase oil change intervals is to improve filtration.contamination from combustion gas can only be controlled by the condition of the engine or how well it's built . Incoming air is caring alot of the dirt and moisture that brakes down the oil a kwik look at most valve cover breathers will confirm this. The spin on filters for oil basically remove the nuts and bolts but are really restricted to how fast the oil has to pass through it and what people are willing to pay for an oil filter.funny thing is the old side loop filters of the 50s work much better then the new spin on's for removing contamination problem was as is with the spin on's today they are not enough on there own.Now to really make you think I'm full of it the add on TP filters of the 50s and 60s work amazinly well given you use the cheapest single ply that you wouldn't blow your noise with let alone wipe your ... used as an add on to your regular filter you will see a signifigant improvement to the quality of your oil. By the way Iv got some high end industrial kleen flow units that I added to some hydraulic units in a forge other then the fancy outer wrapping the main part of the filter looks exactly like the 16" or 18" jumbo roll of TP you see in most restrooms today.results confirmed by lab tests they work.
