The best is the Versaille as it's already got posi, discs, it's 58 inches wide and a 9" but they are as rare these days as hens teeth. As mentioned earlier alot of guys are going to the Fard 8.8s. Why can't you joint the HAMB? Did you say you liked Rat Rods or something terrible like that....
The 67-72ChevyTrucks site is full of good stuff, lots of guys have done most of the possible upgrades we would be looking to do. Jag and Corvette suspensions are popular right now!
No I,ll do a 9 with drums an I like simple , 2 leaf springs , 1 posi 9 inch . I dont wanna be on the side of a road in the sttates or any where trying to replace a u joint in a half shaft . I also cant join on yellow bullet either ..77.

77, Keep in mind that 96 to 02 Crown Vic and Marquis rear disc brakes are just about a bolt on for a 9in. All you need is a spacer (1/4" X 3" OD) to fit in behind the retainer plate in front of the bearing My 8 in took a little bit more time but they work GREAT!!!
Sorry I forgot to mention that the Ford 8.8 with discs AND POSI is another great choice. All kinds of gear sets ready for it and cheap as well. Down around here you can get an 8.8 for about $200.
The 29 didn't have enough room for the center section so I went with an 8in Ford

its a shot in the dark, but. give reg browns auto wreckers a call, campbellford area. 705-696-2900 tell him what you are doing. if anybody can help with older ford stuff it will be him. make sure you are talking to reg.
The thing is, when you read on all the forums that you could use a rear out of 77 nova etc but none of the wreckers around my parts have anything that old. All the posters out of the states make it sound like all you have to do is go the wrecking yard and pick one. Not that simple I have found.
Farmer, try to get in touch with Jacksons Auto Wreckers in Kendel ,that yard is full of that kind of car and there are lots of loose rear ends on racks as well .SACOTU should have the guys number.Maybe he will post it or PM him.I am sure there will be one in that yrd someware, Ed
I would use a 8.8" from a ford explorer - the 94 and earlier ones are drum brakes. 94' and up are 31 spline axles and trak-loks and good gear ratios are common.
My 57' plymouth has a 94' 8.8 with a 3.27 trak-lok setup.
