Wow John.......excellent news......well deserved brother.....the Deuce looked great in Detroit......the history of the car just keeps adding....lol....well done!
Congrats John! I didn't know this little fact as I was shuffling a truck and trailer when they were doing the awards. Well deserved mister. Was great seeing you down there. Hope you had as much fun as we did.

That's great John, Congratulations. Should we tell them the rest of the story?
Thank you Mike. It was a great surprise.
As for the rest of the story - I received an email yesterday from Eric Geisert - senior editor of Street Rodder magazine confirming that the story and history of the "T-Bird Deuce" will be in the July issue of Street Rodder magazine which goes on sale toward the end of May.
This to me is great news, not only for me, but especially for all the previous owners who have put their own personal touch to the car with the respect to what others have done to it. The car today, looks very much like the way Michael built it 58 years ago.

The ride continues!
John
I got a phone call from Eric last night asking if for permission to use my words in the Street Rodder article. It'll be in the July issue with the Autorama write up. This whole thing has been a lot of fun John and I are thinking about opening a detective agency now.

Wow, that must have been a cold ride out to Detroit in that roadster (I'm assuming it doesn't have a heater). Good for you for toughing it out and making the drive (glad I'm not the one who got stuck cleaning it in preparation for the show though ... musta picked up a good amount of road grime on the trip out).

so he won the driven award because he has the only rod capable of driving under its own power? what was it, the trailer queen show? or did he drive the farthest?

Taken straight out of the July issue of Street Rodder:
One of the special awards handed out at the Detroit Autorama is the Driven Award. Sponsored by Lokar Performance Products, the trophy goes to an individual who not only has built a nice car, but one who regularly uses it-logging miles on the odometer by driving to various events around the country or just cruising through the countryside. It is not a trophy for trailer queens.

@ will. Congrates on the Driven Award and the coverage in Street Rodder!! A big thank you for doing all you do to keep the T Bird Deuce alive and out showing it off!
@Ragtop. Excellant write up. Can well imagine that if it was possible, there would be more pages involved!

Thanks Ziggy -- Street Rodder said it best!
It was great to see the story written by Mike (Ragtop) in print. Yes, there is more to the story and it can be seen on our web site -- www.tbirddeuce.com

oh so a kind of daily driver award. how do they verify the usage of the car? he must have receipts from the 7 11 and the grocery store. there must be alot more to it then simply showing up with with lots of miles on the odometer

It also has to have a windshield, so you better get one installed if you plan on winning that trophy next year !!
