Rusty i pay a bit more than that on a 92 Gm pickup Just basic coverage, never had a claim, i have just the one vehichile with them. The rate does keep inching up every year, bit by bit. , seems just standard procedure to keep increasing.
maybe I overreacted but geeze seems like a lot. ......... crooks. Guess thats how my agent gets to own a big truck pulling a big bass boat and goes on fishing tournaments all the time.

Is that 6 months? I have 5 older trucks/cars insured w/o collision) and they average 360-380 per vehicle for 6 months

The title of this thread is misleading.....It should read....."Insurance=thieves"
I have been with the Co-operators since I was 18....thats 42 years....I pay about the same for my old truck, basic insurance....The wifes mini van with everything is more. I have shopped around from time to time, but its only a few bucks difference. My agent gives me no hassles about an older truck etc, so I stay there. Of course, I havent had a claim in 30 years either.

Ya I think your right poncho.......I switch between vehicles in the summer and they don't seem to mind. However there was a time when they took $3000.00 from my act instead of a single monthly payment it was over a yrs insurance. Called the broker and he ask me what kind of beer I drank. Then drove an hr to my place on a friday night with a cheque covering the 3 grand with the beer. Now the cooperators have a training video and my case happens to be on there as something not to do to a client!

Seems you have to shop around every 3 years now Both my trucks are registerd comercial and they tend to give you a not bad deal to start with then keep upping things every year. making a few calls droped my total insurance( cars, business, house) by $2000 and Im still paying 488+ a month combined. 488 a year you would have to already be dead around here

What kills me is, when I lived near the rathole, that was the excuse for raising my rates. When I moved up here to Gods country, I figured great, the rates would come down. No such luck, they said the wouldnt cus I had to drive a bit further to get anywhere now....Same with the house insurance. I am not near a fire hydrant now, being in the country. The fact that there is a river 200 ft from my house means nothing...cant friggin win
Living outside the GTA has some advantages when it comes to insurance rates. No full time fire department, volunteer only, no fire hydrants but they do have a water tanker. Full coverage on the daily driver(2007 model) with no deductible is $70/mth, house is $61/mth, again no deductibles and we had a wind damage claim within the last 5 years.
I feel for the guys in the GTA, when my son moved from here to Oshawa, his car insurance went up $80/mth on the same car, like they say in real estate, location, location, location.
when the cooperators up my home ins by 65% I called around for better rates...nobody was interested because I live in a log home so the only way to reduce my rates was to increase the deductable from $500.00 to $5000.00 I think. Bend over sir while I renew your policy.......should have told them to just roll it up into a cone so its easier to stick up my......! ( please fill in the blanks )

If you want a good place to get a quote call Crosslands General Insurance Brokers in London. They have had my classic cars for years. They have just wrote up my daily drivers as the insurance company that I have been with for 33 years just jumped my rates up 22% . No accident or claims .The answer to why is because we can and if you want another company we can supply that too. Their phone # is 1-800-461-2591 .If you are a member of a car club you may qualify for up to 60% in savings

you are right about shopping. i have my in-house bookkeeper shop every 3 yrs also. over the yrs it has saved me a considerable amount of money. as of this yr i pay in the neighbor hood of 28,000.00 for my commercial insurance, buildings and vecheicles. they took a shot at me last yr on the vecheicles at about the tune of 20%. i have never had a claim in 25 yrs.. their response was i have 2 out of 6 trucks in the metro toronto area twice weekly. after shopping the insurance went down approx 500.00. i have found that by shopping periodically the companies will quit taking the shots at you knowing you will question and shop it.
"Crosslands General Insurance Brokers in London" i have heard they are reasonable also.
.."nobody was interested because I live in a log home" i have a similar situation in that i have a small hobby farm, 30ac. there are only about 3 companies that insure them.
I just got my new policy and I was surpised in a good way. all three vehicals with the A19 policy was just over $700.00 for the year. All three cars are in the modified class. The values range from 20K to 36K

wife thought i was paying too much, her"agent" said put him on the phone, blah blah blah, when i mentioned the years,I was told anything over 10 years needs a "NEW"safety done before they insure it
after adding up the extra $$ ,I wouldn't save anything, and I loose any good driver points with the old company
Just had my 57 appraised at $25,000.00. The insurance premium from Eschelon was only $206.00 for a year with full coverage.
Mike,
Any restrictions? or drive anywhere anytime?
You'll find that the rate that Mike and myself are paying is pretty standard for specialty vehicles. I have my car insured for $49K and it costs me about $390 per year. The only restrictions I have is that the vehicle cannot be used to travel back and forth to work, and cannot be driven to shopping malls, big box stores etc.. I'm insured through Vintage Insurance out of Lindsay.

Paying 6800 p/year for an old Ford truck and a rusty Impreza..... just sayin, lol
I thought I was the only one thinking this. I pay $3336 for a POS cherokee. I don't know how I pay almost the same as Grumps but he has everything including his house insured for a couple hundred more. I realize I'm young but this is brutal.("THEY" could at least use lube)
I pay 3804/yr for the house insurance(including both shops and a storage building) and two daily drivers - one with and one without collision/comprehensive plus comprehensive on 5 classics that I'm not driving. Every summer I pick a car to add liability to just for the cruising season at a cost of somewhere between $55 and $70/month or $330 to $420 on the season(depending on which car I choose). This year it will be the Cougar! I tried collector car ins years ago, but the restrictions didn't work for me, so I use regular coverage without limitations on my classics. These totals will go down once my youngest (19yr old male) gets his own ride/insurance. Because he is a licensed driver in the household, he is automatically added to our policy. At a total of about $4225/yr for everything, I guess I'm about 'middle of the road'/average?

Scott...You live in Brampton (Bramladesh)....widely known for the most accidents and highest insurance fraud in Ontario

Ya its pretty unfortunate lol, thats where the work is for trade shows.
It won't be nearly as bad as a 16 yr old son! - count your lucky stars! One thing to watch out for is that if you have two daily drivers and a summer classic, your third household driver automatically becomes the principle driver!
