Scrap Ontario Drive Clean !

“The Liberals have refused to seriously address costly technical flaws with their new computerized emissions test and have instead opted to force Ontarians to foot the bill, said Todd Smith, Prince Edward-Hastings MPP, in support of colleague Michael Harris, PC Environment Critic, MPP representing Kitchener-Conestoga.

Smith encourages Ontarians to voice their opposition to by signing the online petition at ScrapDriveClean.ca

 http://www.scrapdriveclean.ca/take-action/

If this does not open then type it in or google "Scrap Drive Clean"

We discussed this a great length in 2012. Some gathered many signatures. McGuinty ran and hid before our petition could be presented. This is the actual cure for the Drive Clean program.

Click the PDF and get your copy of the petiton and start collecting names and signatures.

It is early enough in the year to hit EVERY Cruise Night, Car Show and Swap Meet this year.

I don't need the list of swap meets and car shows that have already been missed.

As it says, Persons signing MUST provide their name and address, and it must be LEGIBLE! to be accepted when presented. They do NOT have to provide their email info.

DO NOT encourage people to sign more than once!

Who's signatures should I get? Every citizen of Ontario eligible to vote. Know any?

This year how about EVERYONE on this blog sign the petition!

If yours is the only signature on your copy it is still acceptable. Mail it or drop it off at you MPP's office, especially if your MPP is a Liberal.

I hope you feel that the cost of mailing petitions is worth the cost of postage. There seemed to be a few people looking for some else to pickup the costs of fighting this. For the price of one double double you can cover the envelope & postage.

I have not heard so yet but I would guess that Performance Improvements will accept them. Ask clerk to forward it to Bob McJannett via company mail. OR drop them off to ME at the Bradford Back Alley Cruisers Cruise Night on Hwy 11 South, Bradford any Friday Night, rain or shine.

You can drop them at ANY Back Alley Cruisers Cruise Night. I will contact hosts of all Back Alley Cruisers Cruise Nights to advise them to forward dropped off petitions to me.

If your not sure where to drop it off, you can Google 'Ontario MPPs" to find the MPP in your riding. Still not sure go to this site.

http://fyed.elections.on.ca/fyed/en/form_page_en.jsp  then type in your Postal Code.

This will tell you what riding you live in, then match that to your MPP.

Enough excuses, stop waiting for someone else.

In the words to TV's Handy Manny "Let's Get Busy!"

One last thought, If no one voted for the Liberals how did they get into office?

Ah yes but this is a revenue neutral program remember! Haha. And in the beginning of the Drive Clean program it was reffered to as a temporary program! Well the time is up for it, it is time for it to go away just like it is in B.C. and a few U.S. states too.

In my opinion, which doesn't usually mean too much, i feel the petitions when signed should ultimately be returned to the MPP that began it in the first place. The scrap Drive Clean petitions should be sent into Michael Harris and the old car/MOE petitions should be sent into John O'Toole. Their addresses are at the bottom of the petitions for a reason. I don't think sending them into any other MPP is a good idea.

I have handed in around 70 filled petitions to John O'Toole and numerous ones to Michael Harris.

There is another write up in the Star newspaper about the scrap drive clean today too.

i will be vending at Richmond Green April 13. I have forms to collect signatures. See you there.

If petitions are dropped off at your MPP's office they will forward them to the MPP to whom they need to be forwarded to.

I have already turned in over 100 signatures to Randy Pettipiece MPP for Perth Wellington..He is on Board and supports the ban on Drive clean..I just printed off another 15 pages to collect signatures on..I am quite comfortable turning them into my Local MPP as I feel he very supportive of scraping the old obsolete drive clean..Nobody gets out of my shop without being requested to sign the petition nobody has refused as of yet..Liberalss didn't need votes they just bought seats with our money.Watch for news on Monday when the auditor makes his findings known about the cost of canceling one of those plants..Is it my imagination or does the lezzy look like Mcdinky in drag..

Don't know what happened to the post I put on here 2  days ago, but will do it again. What I did was take the scrap the drive clean web address, and send it to everyone on my mailing address, (except Chuk),and asked them to fill out the form, and then do the same. That way it should get around pretty quick. Maybe everyone on here could do the same thing.

Ok. Stop complaining and sign the Scrap Ontario Drive Clean Petition. I will be at Road Runners' Swap Meet Sunday April 28 with petitions. You must include Name & Address. I will get it to the correct person. Spend less energy than all the plotting, scheming and venting and pick up a pen.
See you tomorrow.

I got an exceptionally good response to the Scrap Drive Clean Petition on Sunday. I did not take enough copies of petition with me. Some people had to sign across the top or bottom or side of full sheets. I will head to Rockton May 11/12 weekend to get more signatures and will bring plenty of forms.

I mailed those copies to MPP Michael Harris of Waterloo yesterday. That cost me $1.50.
His address is on bottom of petition.

Cruise nights will start soon, get copies ready and get going.

Today's Ontario Government discussions regarding the cancellation of the Gas Power plants could lead to an early retirement for our Liberal friends. Remember NDP is NOT the alternative.

Had a long talk with my MPP [PC] on the phone yesterday. The only way the Drive Clean will go away is for an ELECTION!! He said he's spoken to the Minister of Enviroment a few times lately on this "FARCE" of a test, & the Fiberals are "addament" they will not drop this NO WAY- NO HOW!!! Too much money invested by the garages for the new equipment, & of course BIG DOLLARS coming in for the GOV.!! The 2nd one being the "all" important one, as if they give a "RATS A$$" about how much $$ the garage spent!!! So keep going with the petitions & trying, but I think you'll hit the "WALL" when it's presented???

The idiots that bring these laws in are the ones that will never be affected by it because they are most likely in the six figure income and drive new cars. I hope that Kijiji ad goes viral and makes it's way to the Prime Minister's office.

If everybody would read this and do your part..it could help to let them know just how we feel about this..It is easy and will just take a few minutes..way less time than it would take to do one e-test rip off...

Thanks Chuk

Last night, the Liberals told the media they would meet PC demands to repay millions of dollars in illegal profits made from overcharging Ontario drivers for emissions tests, but they did not commit to a plan that would scrap the Drive Clean program altogether.

For the last two weeks, we have been calling on the Liberal government to immediately pay back every cent that it has illegally taken from Ontarians using Drive Clean. Although it is good to hear the Liberals say that they will meet our demand in their fall economic statement, we are now waiting to see if they will present a credible plan to immediately begin phasing out the program.

More than two and a half years ago, PC Leader Tim Hudak and the Ontario PC Caucus began demanding that the Liberal government scrap Drive Clean after it was found that the program had achieved its mandate.

Yesterday, I wrote the Environment Minister asking him to work with the Finance Minister to meet the following demands in the fall economic statement today. They were as follows: (1) immediately reduce Drive Clean fees to stop what has become an illegal tax; (2) pledge to pay back the $19 million unlawfully taken from Ontario drivers; and (3) present a credible plan to begin working with our Party to phase out the Drive Clean program.

I encourage you to watch today’s fall economic statement around 1:15/1:30 p.m. online at the Ontario Legislative Website by clicking here. Should the government not meet our demands and present a credible plan to immediately begin phasing out the program and pay the money back to Ontarians, then I encourage you to write to the Minister himself at jbradley.mpp@liberal.ola.org.

Thanks again for your efforts. We are that much closer to scrapping Drive Clean.

Sincerely,

Michael Harris, MPP

Kitchener-Conestoga

Copy of my letter to Mr Bradley..

I protest anymore more money being spent on Drive clean ..I run an automotive shop and I don’t believe that we have any problem with drive clean ..I have less than a 3% failure rate and they are usually simple things like a vent or purge valve failure..I believe this has become nothing more than a cash cow for the liberal government and I totally oppose this stupid testing..I will run a very vigourous campaign against the liberal government if they do not completely stop this insane unnecessary picking our pockets..For me the Liberal government has done enough damage to Ont to last even my grandchildren’s children..  Enough is enough..You are IDIOTS… when does the insanity stop..?????? I will post large signs in front of my shop to encourage my customer to oppose the liberal government in the next election if YOU  do NOT put a stop this insane money grab for useless unneeded emission testing….How many more ways do you plan to empty my wallet..!!!!!!!!!!  Just how many more beauacracys can that Idiot Mcgwyne come up with …I am totally fed up with the liberals lying ,and stealing, and spending us and my grand-kids future…

Chuck Armstrong..

Chuk, what shop do you run? I'm in St. Marys.

I agree with you, with moving my vehicles over from AB, I'm lucky I only have the one car to deal with. Drive clean seems to be a waste of $$$. I lived in south florida and they scrapped their program, apparently the reason was that most vehicles were passing and it was a waste of dough. Hope they do the same here.

REJECTED!...Dang I was hoping it would be scrapped before my B-day next week. I have been holding off on doing the test. Guess I'll git r done tomorrow. Wish me luck

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 8, 2013

Liberals reject scrapping Drive Clean, refuse to repay illegal taxes
Liberals’ economic statement fails to meet PC demand to scrap Drive Clean program

QUEEN’S PARK – The Liberals have rejected the calls of the Ontario PC Caucus to include a credible plan in their fall economic statement to scrap Drive Clean as they continue make record profits from the program by forcing Ontario drivers to overpay for emissions tests, PC Environment Critic and Kitchener-Conestoga MPP Michael Harris said.

“As I have pointed out repeatedly in the House, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled in 1998 that profits made off of revenue-neutral programs, like Drive Clean, can be deemed an illegal tax and repayable. So I am surprised that the Liberals stated in their fall economic statement that they will only ‘consider changes’ to the program,” Harris said.

“The time for review is long over. The Liberals should pay back the millions of dollars that they’ve illegally taken from Ontario drivers and immediately present a plan to scrap Drive Clean altogether,” Harris said.

The Drive Clean program was never intended to make a profit, but over the last two years the Liberals have racked up a $19-million surplus, as the number of vehicles failing emissions testing increases.

In January 2013, the Liberals replaced the previous tailpipe test, which is a true measure of emissions, with a new computerized test that is less reliable and more prone to error. Now the failure rate of the program is on the rise, not because of emissions-related problems, but because of a computer glitch.

“In fact, nearly 130,000 vehicles fail the test each year. Some drivers are forced to pay for up to three tests before they can get a conditional pass. No wonder the Liberals have racked up a multi-million-dollar surplus,” Harris said. “It’s obvious that the Drive Clean program under the Liberals has evolved into nothing more than a government cash-grab.”

Nearly 11,500 frustrated Ontario drivers have voiced their opposition to the Liberals’ e-test by signing the Ontario PCs’ online petition at ScrapDriveClean.ca.

Found an interesting article in Old Autos last month's edition.  I re-typed it for those who don't subscribe to it.  Hopefully no typos.

An expert says one of the recent volcanic eruptions in Iceland in just 4 days negated every single effort earthlings have made to control CO2 emissions in the 5 year period preceding the event. He goes onto state its very disheartening to realize that all of the carbon emissions saved worldwide while suffering the inconvenience and expense of driving hybrid cars, toting fabric grocery bags, throwing out all non-green cleaning products, using only 2 squares of toilet paper, putting bricks in the toilet tank, selling the SUV and speedboat, risk getting killed on the road while riding your bicycle, and replacing 50 cent light bulbs with 10 dollars ones, went down the tubes in four days.  And here is another kicker the world’s media may only choose to tell you about on the slowest of slow news days, there is 200 active volcanoes spewing out the crud at any one time EVERY DAY.  The lengthy tome ends up with the revelation that when Mt. Pinatubo erupted in the Philippines in 1991, it spewed out more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than the entire human race had emitted in all its years on earth.

Kinda shows us that all this green $hit is mostly from too many politicians eating way to many early Granny Smith Apples with a chunk of cow salt ..Oh yeah Cows are the next biggest polluters apparently they produce more green house gas than all the cars on the road..What I have trouble to understand is how we the people let them get away with all this????????? Apathy will be our undoing..remember nobody does anything to us that we don't just let them ..we are truly a bunch of whiners. ..we just don't bother to get involved with our Government ..but that does not meant they are not involved with us ...

How can we truly fight the system?? I wouldn't even know where to begin. There must be some intelligent people out there that feel the same as the rest of the masses, and it will take them to organize something. Once the ball is rolling and people feel that they are not a "one man army", then things will change. I sometimes wonder why, out of 35+ million people in this Country, some terminally ill individual with nothing to lose hasn't done something about his displeasure of the Government. I think it's only a matter of time.

We can for one thing ..GET OUT AND VOTE..our voting numbers are dismal..Then at election time we get out and support the candidate that supports our cause and we can get busy and beat some doors and make our voice known to the party we chose to support..I try to help and support the candidate in my area and I do go knock on some drs I know it's small but that's because people prefer to whine on their PC or grumble to friends but come election time they are much to busy watching TV.. or sitting in the back-yard with a bar-b-Q drinking wobbly pops..and they never seem to get out and vote ..forgot about it ..I know it's like climbing a glass wall but it's a start and much more than most people ever do..I agree about the terminally dude...but it probably still would not change a corrupt government..we have do that by Votes ..we live in a democracy that is controlled by special interest voters, and the elite because they know the system can only be changed by votes.... seems the whiners and grumblers have yet to figure that out..So we are where are and we get the government we deserve ..in my eye..

I vote at every election, but does it really matter who you vote in?? Last election there was a Chinese Guy running and I ended up voting for him. Not because I thought he was a better candidate, but mainly because I knew I was going to have to take it up the a$$ and he would have hurt the least. In all honesty, the current system is not working anymore, and the amount of corruption in Government is sickening. I'm not sure how to fix the system, but all I know is I'm never going to see it in my lifetime.

The funniest part is all the products to drive these efforts were made where no one that lives there has seen the sun for a few years because of the air pollution. Ill go green when they change the color of our cash back. Its just funny the crap we are feed and believe its  true

ENV1283MC-2013-3234a

Dear Mr. Armstrong:

Thank you for your e-mail about the Drive Clean program.

Drive Clean was introduced because motor vehicles are a major domestic source of smog and several other toxic contaminants.  Smog can have serious health consequences for many people, particularly children, the elderly and those with respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses.  The Ontario Medical Association estimates that smog contributes to 9,500 premature deaths annually.  Drive Clean repairs reduce vehicles’ smog-causing pollutants by more than a third.

On January 1, 2013, Drive Clean began using a test that reads a vehicle’s on-board diagnostic (OBD) computer.  The OBD test replaced the old dynamometer test, which only measured a vehicle’s emissions at a particular speed, load and moment in time.  In contrast, the OBD test checks the vehicle’s computer that continuously monitors a vehicle’s emissions control system and can better identify emissions system problems.  Drive Clean joins the other 32 North American vehicle inspection and maintenance programs that use this test technology.  It is the right test for Ontario’s fleet of vehicles because it is more accurate than the old test and better at detecting emissions problems, resulting in better diagnostics and emissions-related repairs.

The change to modernize Drive Clean testing and make it more effective by using the OBD test has reduced the government’s cost to deliver the program.  As a result, we will reduce the Drive Clean test fee in the coming months.

If you have questions regarding the Drive Clean program or the emissions-testing requirements of your vehicle, please feel free to call the Drive Clean Contact Centre at 1-888-758-2999 or visit the Drive Clean website at www.driveclean.com.

Again, thank you for bringing your concerns to the attention of the government.

Yours sincerely,

Jim Bradley

Minister

My first response ..I feel better all ready.. now to build on this ...

What a load of crap monologue your letter is..It is pretty plain and simple to my fellowOntarians that this is just a load of crap and a total rip off of  the people of Ontario .. We only e-test a small part of Ontario ..If I just cross the highway where I live on highway 23 in Perth County “ONTARIO” nobody has to be tested..AND I own and operate an automotive shop we have virtually NONE..NADA..ZIP.. failures in emissions anymore..you just don’t have the balls to do the right thing..We know ..we are not  stupid..YOU GOTTA FIND SOME NEW REVENUE TOOLS TO PAY FOR THOSE GAS PLANTS THAT YOU CRIMINALY SPENT OUR MONEY ON TO SAVE YOUR THIEVING  ASS..My wish..to fire your crooked ass out the door with your crooked government..Your crooked liberal government is so full of lying, stealing and bull$**** I can’t wait for an election ..Your Green Bull**** is going to break this country.. China is building and bringing a coal fired generating plant on line every month so they can sell all their products to us..It is very hard as a citizen of this province to stand by and watch what a dumb bunch of *******s like you are,  destroying this province ..Why doesn’t Mcgwyn have enough balls to just call an election ..she is not a elected premier and has no mandate..
