Insurance company suggestions?

I am confused about that .never heard of anything like that..Are you actually dealing with a "small ins company" I did not know there is any such thing as a small ins company any more ? are you sure you are not talking about a small agent/broker.. He/they/you should shop more ins co's for quotes..I have a couple vehicles over 20 years old and have no problem insuring them with my local ins co..I am insured with economical Ins ...I don't know of any changes restricying cars/trucks by age as they are required to be certified/safetied.. They may require you submit a saftey certificate to make sure the vehicle is road worthy..   I suppose with all the crap happening in to-days world I don't really have any for sure answer..but it sounds kind of goofy to me that they wouldn't insure you..I think I might be inclined to call another broker/agent and get some different quotes or advice..I have my 48 coupe insured as a daily driver and pay about the same as I do for my newer car ..It has an appraised agreed value for collision for my ins company in case of a total loss..but I have others with just PL & PD no collision and never have had any issue..so I think you need to check another agent..Then again..maybe they are changing how and who they are insuring..nothing would surprize me anymore in this money greedy world with ins companys..Seems like ins companys have a legal right to enlarge your a$$hole while taking your money but they seem to have a shrunken spincter muscle when they need to live up what they agreed to do when they stole your money ..Insurance is just another government scam...to force more people into public transportation...using solar panels and wind generators to push you along into submission..

I have my 05 jeep up for sale/trade, and have received a ton of great trade offers. More than a few that have had me drooling on my keyboard.

I always call my insurance company to get a quote on what my rates would be. I called them about a month ago while I was working on a deal for a dually pickup, and the guy told me that if its over 20 years old they won't under any circumstances cover it as a daily driver.

Is this the norm for all companies now, or is there anyone that still covers vehicles over 20 years old as daily drivers? I go through a small company in St. Thomas right now, is that the problem? I can't see it having anything to do with my driving record or age. I'm in my mid thirties, and haven't had a ticket since 99.

Never heard of that either. my truck is 21 years old, the other one before that is 43 years old, no problems with insuring them, other than they take a pic or two of them.

Ya they want you to go to the collecter car ins if 20yrs or more. They don't want to bother with the older cars.I was told the only reason they will cover my 66Suburban this year is because i kept the fire and theft on it over the winter and that made me an existing customer .They won't cover new customers with 20yr old vehicles. I should have wrote broker, and he told me 20 years and up is considered a collector car now. He also wanted it certified which I understand.
On top of that though, they want a mileage limit per year, and said I would be out of luck if I was in an accident driving to work because of the way the policy is written.

It just seems to me that you go to work, contribute to society only to be dumped on/punished, and told your somehow odd/strange because you don't want to drive a new focus.

Try Reith, or Omni Ins. I deal with both, but recently more is going to Reith cuz Omni was starting to get too pricey.

I am with State Farm, and just put the insurance back on my 57' Plymouth. I put full insurance on it so I can drive it anywhere anytime. They just sent me the slip this morning.

I'm also with State Farm and I tried the "collector car" ins. before - didn't like all the restrictions. I'll pay a little more to be able to drive my car anywhere and at anytime I want for any reason. The mandatory collector rule for 20 and older is a new one for me too! -never heard that one!!!

So do you guys with State Farm and NO restrictions have a policy that uses agreed value or do you just go by the blue book? Have you told them your car/truck has been modified?
I called Echelon last year after someone on this forum told me they have an agreed value policy with no restrictions on a modified vehicle...I was told they had no such policy!

I wouldn't mind paying more for no restrictions but I'm too nervous my truck could get written off and not get back what money I have into it. So I can afford to get another one.

My older cars use the appraised value, my daily drivers use the blue book value. I'm guessing that if I got the daily drivers appraised they would use that number but who would appraise an '02 Windstar?!!!

P.S. :They are a little hung up on certain mods, rollbar and lowering are the two that stood out for me.

Or, no Fenders, etc, etc, etc. ha ha ha
Myself, kids, wife have everything with State Farm. My large truck is under them but has restrictions on it as well, no work, shopping etc. My hot Rod is with Echelon. Again I have restrictions with it, not to work, shopping etc.
