i am 17 years old and am looking at buying a project car that is about 16 hours away from me. I really like this car and it my dream vehicle but cash is tight and i have no way of getting it down here. Car is a 72 vega located near owen sound ontario. I am in northern ontario. I was just wondering if there was any one coming in this direction that could relay the car for me until it gets here. before i go ahead and buy it.
Thanks in advance
PS. the reason this car is so important to me it was my dads first car when he was about my age. He is no longer with us. Money is tight. I really want to make this a tribute type car or him. I do have a picture from back in the day of his car i want to use as a reference. This car seems to have most of what my dads had besides the ford 9" and muncie 4 speed and conversion parts. These are some items i will be looking for if i buy this car.
It would help if you would post where you are located. You state the car is in the Owen Sound area, and you are 16 hours drive away, north of there?????????????
yes basically. I have somebody going to look at the car for me tomorrow night. He will haul it a reasonable distance. Not sure if he will go all the way. So i will be looking for some assistance along the way. If you know of any it would be much appreciated.
You'll be taking a bit of a gamble buying a car without personally seeing it in person first.
Hope it works out for you.
Edit: I just did some poking around and found a Vega for sale in Meaford, which is near Owen Sound. Odd thing is the ad for the car states that it is a 1974 model yet the tail light (and tail light panel) as well as the front end are clearly from an earlier Vega. They are asking $2500 for it. If that IS the car you are interested in, I'd be making sure the VIN on the car matches the VIN on the ownership because it sure looks like a 1972 Vega but they state it is a '74. It is possible that someone changed a '74 Vega to look like an earlier model but it isn't really likely in my opinion. The ad states the woman is selling on behalf of her husband ... it is possible the ownership she got the year off of is not the correct ownership for that car. Which means you just might be buying a car with no matching ownership and an ownership with no matching car.
Be careful.

I do remember seeing 3 wagons but yes I will definately try there for parts if I do indeed get this car. This car is fairly complete so it shouldnt cost me much to get it on the road!
That is the car. I will have someone going to check it out for me before I make a move. Thanks for pointing out the year I didn't even notice. I just contacted the seller asking for clarification along with the vin and what the ownership says!
You're welcome. I also sent off an email to the seller. Turns out it is a '74 and he has changed the appearance to that of a '73. Due to the fact that the ad states "I am selling this on behalf of my husband", I figured the wife had the wrong ownership in her hand. Quite possible if her "not available to sell the car himself" husband had many parts cars over the years.
