some info. 200R4's when built properly can take up to 400HP. My buddy does these using Art Carr parts and build tips.

arent most gm car trans the same length?  i know theres a shorty powerglide but go for a th350, a 200r4 is pretty weak.  a 700r4 car trans is also the same length and spline im sure.

They can take it. I have a Monte Carlo SS with a 2004r here that ran 11.79. 475hp 383ci. A friends Grand National ran 11.17, pushing 600hp, stock internals, servo, shift kit and converter.

I put a shift kit in the 2004r trans in the GN that I had was the best working trans I've owned.

I have a 2004r out of an '86 Regal here. It was working fine when removed, but had alot of miles on it, and has been sitting along time so I would only feel comfortable offering it as a core.

 They are 3" shorter than a 700r4.

i have a 2004r in my chevelle with 823hp built by california transmission, art carr. i had the privilege of meeting mr carr when i was down there for the dyno run and photo shoot at westech performance on my engine.  when the numbers were in from the dyno i called down to his shop and they put the converter together.  a couple of days later we took the drive, 40-45 miles down to huntington beach to p/u at his shop. he assures the tranny will handle 11-1200hp.

i grew up an old 4 speed guy back in the 60's and 70's and would like to think i was not bad at it but i will tell you what, there is no way in hell a 4spd is going to out shift his tranny. unbelievable and at a fair price.EMsummer.jpg
