I just read where Jacksons is closed or cloing and he is haulin cars. What a shame but really most of the stuff he had was not going to be restored anyway. It had been picked thru for years but was still good for some parts.I have baught a lot of parts for projects over the years from that place and if this is true I will miss going there.I have lots of memories of going there with friends and and even my son has wandered the yard.I remember once having a really bad day and just happing to be passing the yard.I stopped and spent an hour or so wandering.Funny thing was there were lots of others out that day wandering as well as taking pictures.I also remember going with Fatstax one day and being the coldest I had ever been in my life.I guess people weren't buying and everyone was just looking so they must have decided to pack it in .Too bad but understandable, not worth opening if all you are going to sell is a $5 knob, that is if someone doesn't just steel it.Just another sign of the way things are going I guess. But the memories of those long trecks over the bridge to the upper yard, rows and rows of cars ,thoes stacks of engines, rear ends, rows of doors, all pre 80s Remember the office with shelves of old tin toys stached to the roof trusses.I remember watching out for various forest creatures and having to decide weather that part was worth getting stung by the hornets.Sad if the closing is true but at least it was there and and a big part of the local car history and many fond memories for me.Elliots and now Jacksons wow . Ed
Cool Glen I hope he is still open maybe there is still hope for that 30s Mack I have been longing for.Either way I feel better getting that post out there .Anybody else have junkyard memories. Ed
Minnakers was a favorite of mine, when I was a kid we would stay in a cottage in the county and my dad and I would spend a couple hours walking around every year, got to where I new the place, nothing changed but still wanted to go,LOL,Corinne and I even went there a few times and still have the pics she took, the last time I went there was when I heard they were going to crush, went with a friend and his son, almost cried, they had already started, sad to see the stacks of crushed stuff, and others pushed into piles waiting there turn, but so it goes, not the first or last old yard to go.
Jackson's is not closed. Paul has passed away however another fellow has moved into the place to look after it. Robert is there most Saturday mornings.
I take it this is the dude on newton ville road. great place. Picked up some parts for the 57 off a younger guy that hanging around helping out the old guy there. drooped a few hundred on a seat and spare motor and killed a good part of the day listening to the old guy spining tales of the past. I got the idea that he didn't realy need the money that bad but it was just what he did and kept him busy. if its the same place Im glad someone jumped in and took over there was still tons of good stuff there, would of killed me to see it all go to the crusher.
Yup, that would be the place and Robert is likely the younger guy you are speaking of. I could walk there from my house if I wasn't so lazy. LOL
Not sure what the number is, but Robert told me that he tries to be there every Saturday morning at least. (He lives there...I just mean there sat morning for business.)
I made it into Minnakers before they did the big crush. Took a bunch of pictures. Was told that $500 was the going price for the average car. Has anybody been into Roblins lately. Heard that they have done some crushing, but that is all that I have heard. Hoping to get over there this summer and see just what, if anything is left.

Jackson's is not closed. A very good friend of mine went yesterday to check it out first hand and told me personally that nothing has changed. He asked the guy there and there is no plan to close the place down anytime soon.
