Fendors for Danny and Josh - May 25 - Oshawa
Permalink

Some friends of mine "dogpatch devils" are doing there annual "yard sale"...lots of hot rod stuff for sale, food, games, girls and all for a great cause....its a family event, and in my opinion the best show in the GTA.

here is a bit more information on the deal as stated by Shaun McGarry, one of the DPD.

We hope to see everyone out again this year, On Saturday May 25th, 2013, we will be holding a ``YARD SALE`` / Car show including live music, Bake Sale, face painting, and auction to help raise money for our friend’s Danny and Josh Taylor. Danny is a 3 year old boy Diagnosed with Neuroblastoma just days after his 3rd Birthday. Neuroblastoma is a cancerous tumor that develops from nerve tissue and usually strikes infants and young children. Doctors discovered that Danny had not only one large tumor in his abdomen, but 9 smaller ones which had invaded his liver and bones. Danny is turning 4 June 9th and since his 3rd Birthday he, has finished chemo therapy and is now starting very painful radiation treatments. As a result form Chemo Danny has lost a majority of his hearing and now has new ears, which he is proud to show you. His new ear’s come in the form of large hearing aids.

Danny’s older brother Josh who is now seven was diagnosed shortly ...after birth with cerebral palsy. Cerebral Palsy is caused by damage to the motor control centre of the brain and can occur during pregnancy, childbirth or up to about the age three. Resulting limits in movement and posture cause activity limitation and are often accompanied by disturbances of sensation, depth perception, and other sight based perceptual problems, and communication ability.
Danny and Josh need our help, and with your support we can make a significant difference in this family’s life. Last year we raised over $21,000.00 Dollars over three events and hope to exceed our efforts this year.

Proceeds from this car show will be going to Danny and Josh also Autism Ontario (Durham Region) in hopes to raise enough money to elevated some of the cost and stress to the family’s during these most difficult times. Donations of any form will be greatly appreciated. A Trust Fund has been set up at CIBC for Daniel J Taylor TRANSIT # 02942 and TRUST FUND account@# 7875886.

Thank you for your consideration of our request. We look forward to hearing from you in the near future, and appreciate all your help in the past.

I love hearing that Mask, raising money for a good cause, a big high five from me to you and the other organizers for putting this up.
It's just simply great! I personally devote a fair amount of my time for the same reason (although for different charities), and I love it.

Unfortunately I have other plans for that weekend, so I won't be able to make it...but thanks for posting the trust fund info., I'll be making a contribution.

All the best.

Good on you guys..These kinds of charitable Rod runs or efforts by rodders to help others in our community are honorable and make me really feel good to be a part of those who commit their time and effort for such a great cause..I believe you never tand so tall as when you stoop to help a kid up....Good on you and all those involved in this worthy cause..My next door neighbour Died last year from Geoblastoma..a brain tumor ..It took two years from the time he was diagnosed and it was a very emotional struggle for me as well as he was a good friend and a neighbour for 27 years and his son is apprenticing with me now..really tuff stuff and my hat is off to you for this ..we should be doing more of these and less sit and park stuff..Thanks for your kindness..

me and a few other guys wil be there doing pinstriping, and all money gets donated..so if anyones looking to get some work done...come on out!

Fatstax and I just got back from this event. What an awesome time.I couldn't belive it when we rounded the corner in this residential neighbourhood and there were choppers and bobbers lining the street in front of this house. In the driveway of this house was a live band playing there asses off.Accross the street in the school yard was a field of the coolest rat rods and old school customs you have ever seen. There were coups, sedans, and roadsters from all makers. Most were like our cars, lets say with lots of patina. We met a couple of the guys from the host club, the Dogpatch Devils, who made us feel welcome .They thanked us for coming, when it was us who were thanking them for there hard work for a very worthy cause. Thanks guys for a really cool event,we can only hope all of your goals are met.I will absolutely be there if you do it again.A great day even the trip along Taunton Rd was interesting as there were many potential projects along the way.Fatstax liked a 40s looking panel truck but when we walked up to it we found the sign in fact said"Not For Sale".Further along was a 26-27T coupe,my favorite hot rod body style, rolling with engine ,just a little out of my price range.Ended the day with a stop at the Port Hope cruise night, they are really getting a good turnout and an interesting mix of cars. All in all a great day. Ed
